"LORES" by Native Instruments - First Impressions and 7 magical patches for starters!

Veteran producer and sound designer Stephan Oberhoff takes the brand new Kontakt-based app named "LORES" on a short trip into the world of imagination this software evokes.
"I was shocked by how organic and emotional these sounds flowed out of the speakers! Makes me wish I had some film to score right now because the engine produces highly cinematic and visual textures that blend into orchestral sounds beautifully.
I just grabbed the first 7 factory patches I came across so you can decide if this library is essential for you to purchase.
It is currently $ 199.- here in the US and comes with a whopping 69 GB of sounds.
Please be aware that you MUST have around 108 GB free on your SYSTEM drive (even if you want to install it on your outboard sound drive - which is what I always do) to even be able to install it!
As I listen back as you do now, I am continually amazed by the organic detail of all the textures that weave in and out.

I really like LORES. One thing to be aware of, it requires 270+ gigabytes free space to install it...that caused me some extra expense.

I like this instrument collection and also Arkis…together they offer a brilliant underscoring palette . I think it is true to comment that Lores vocings are constructed around minor patterns, however that is ok ,with me , particularly as the voicings combine well playing along in the relative minor . I have used Lores , in this manner with arkis, and particularly with the bowed stirrings series by Evolutionseries (The developers of Lores) with very pleasing results. Have fun 🙏🙏🏿

On a side note, I have noticed that you have LASS 3 and wonder if you may consider making a video about this new version as there are no reviews about it and find this very strange. 100+ Gb on the SYSTEM drive? why not install it on an external disk

My directories are pushed to an external drive and still needed to make the space on the internal drive for the install on the external. Don't know why, but worth clearing the space required.

Nice, but they all sound very very similar. Unless it's just how you played them, they all fill the same arrangement niche. Dreamy, moody, dark... very little variation.

I agree with you to a certain extent - Lores fills one particular slot of 'mood machines' and I would say the thing that makes it outstanding is the organic texture detail available. I own Omnisphere and 10 other massive synths and they have NOTHING with that level of realism and animation. I would recommend you put your hands on the keyboard wherever someone has this software and see how it makes you - and the music - feel.

@@RideTheFuture Right. It certainly does sound lovely, though! I listened to you and a few other demos and you're all playing everything in a minor key! Anyway, the sound is very rich.

Very undecided about this. Beautiful sounds, but it kinda feels like a one-trick pony.

It is definitely a new kid on the block with a highly specific sound. I think it's the polar opposite of (e.g.) Omnisphere which covers more territory than any synth I ever programmed. So in a way, I agree with you. However, the organic depth of these textures kick the imagination into overdrive and THAT is where this library's strength lies. Please remember that I only demoed 7 patches, about 4 hours after I first got it ;-)
