Tableau vs Power BI - which one is better

Power bi is for advance data pipeline and reporting. Tableaus is just for visualization.

I like tableau, but using the free version is very limiting compared to Power BI's free version, so I tend to go more with Power BI.

I'm learning both and although tableau is powerful, I consider Power BI to be more productive and interactivity. Moreover, Power BI is very easy and simple to use.

Long time user and administrator of both Tableau and Power BI here. I'm suprised there is no mention of the comparitive user licensing or training costs? Tableau is not free for report viewers, also it has subscription based online training and certifications (per user / annual renewals). Also, with the recent MS Fabric preview, Microsoft now includes more data integration features and free online training resources for Power BI.

I am using both power bi and tableau power bi is more advanced and interactive. power bi is more advanced compare to tableau I can see more connectors in power bi than tableau may be you need to explore more on power bi

if you compare it with Tableau you might see that the list of data sources in PowerBI is limited

Power BI only includes ODBC connections for databases since it was not built using Java code. Tableau has both ODBC and JDBC standards connectors, and therefore it supports (native) access to more databases and services.

The only issue of Power BI is performance and it needs some adjustments. For sources, community,and the trend there is no comparison at all. Also Power BI has something called Power Query...for transformations..big transformations not just join and append.

Definitely easier with power bi knowledge, the equivalent of 7 days full time should be enough to give you the basics 👍

Such a bias video, your comment about google trends isn't true. If you look at the data, power BI's popularity is growing fast, it will surpass Tableau in the next year or two.

@@loresowhat I only say this given I am certified in Tableau (Tableau Desktop Specialist). Maybe I just haven’t spent as much time using Power BI as I should. BI definitely has an easier learning curve from what I hear!
