Loretta is my older sister by one year in age, when she was little I would often get in fights because people would tease her so I defended her, when she could not see and wore thick glasses. I remember nights when her screams would wake me and she would rock back and forth and bump her head to comfort herself. Special Olympics has made the biggest impact in her life and I am a witness that God has given Loretta to us for such a time as this. Blessings Stella

How awesome it must have been growing up with her. Im glad she had a supporting family and a sister who was there to protect her from the bullies and help her recover from lifes disappointments. Every girl needs a sister to confide in and to share girl things with. You should consider writing a book about the life of your family. I for one would love to read it..I hope you all are doing great and happy .Gods blessings to you.

Hi Loretta. I just saw the movie about you last night. Beautiful one. My 13 y.o. son wants to become a basket player in NBA. Sometimes he struggles because he doesn't have money like other friends, 'cause I am also a single mother like yours. I showed him this interview, 'cause your words are very inspirational. He goes training and back by bike, 5 km per way, every kind of weather. Sometimes when it rains a lot he would prefer a ride by car. Sometimes there is, but I encourage him to rely mainly upon himself. This makes him much stronger. Last night when I saw in the movie your mother's behaviour, I felt like her and knew then that I am on the right path as a mother to keep out the best from him. When everyone around him will give up, he will find some more strenght inside himself and be inspirational to others ❤ I wanna thank you for your beauty and for your mum and beautiful ppl whom you have or have had around. This is the world I want to live in and to leave to my children❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

The movie inspired by her story is new to me. It's has been out for years now but fortunately I was able to watch it. It's very inspiring and it's a real tear jerker. I was just searching for running tips and found her story over youtube. My habit of easily getting sidetracked rewarded me with good inspiration. I will try to get my teen daughters to watch it. The things we find on KZbin. God bless you Ms. Loretta Claiborne.

I love Loretta Claiborne. I teach middle school students with intellectual disabilities (formerly known as "mental retardation") and my dream is to help each one of them to be as independent as possible as they contribute to and participate in their community. At 1:10, Loretta starts to talk about how Special Olympics helps people to be disciplined not only in sports but as it relates to respect for others and living meaningful lives. May God continue to bless you, Ms. Claiborne.

I have this cousin has this Grandson that's not walking nor talking, I asked someone did they try to correct his legs they said the doctor wanted him to do the cask but he didn't like it the had it taken off . I realized alone rime ago you can handykep a child by doing to much for them and they suppose to be a regular kid. I love this movie it's shows you have ro help them to see what they can do on their own. Kimberly did an awesome job I wanted to meet Loretta my myself. Wow!!

The first time I was a child and didn’t understand about mental illness/ lifestyle (I’m sorry I don’t want to use the wrong verbiage) But I didn’t like the way they treated her. Watching it as a grown woman I was pissed but I loved how she showed up and showed out and proved to be smarter than most “normal people” that tried to play her.
