Loretta Lynn Is a prolific songwriter. She literally has boxes and boxes of unrecorded songs on sheets of paper. A few years back Jack White, of White Stripes fame, was visiting Loretta not far from his home in Nashville when he pulled out one of her songs from a box in her attic that was called 'Portland, Oregon' They later recorded the song together in 2004 and that collaboration went on to win a Grammy for Loretta and White for Country Duet. The album that it was on is called 'Van Lear Rose' and it also won Loretta Lynn a Grammy for Country Album that year.
@greeneyelove20032 жыл бұрын
You have to follow this up with her song "You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man". She's a total badass. Along the same lines is another great song by Gretchen Wilson called "Homewrecker." Loretta is old school country at its finest. She has some great duets with Conway Twitty, most notably "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" Speaking of Conway, "Hello, Darlin'", "Slow Hand", "That's My Job"...honestly, I could suggest every single song by him because he was (is) a true country legend. But those three are the first that spring to mind. The comparison to Dolly is a good one and there is a video where she and Loretta sing a medley of Loretta's greatest hits and it's so cool to see two of the Queens Of Country together.

Interesting point about Loretta Lynn she is famous for writing her life and singing it. She married her husband when she was I believe 14 or 15 years old. And they had some interesting conversations over the years that involved fist. Cuz Loretta Lynn was not afraid to stand her ground. She is famous for having broken some real taboos and country music. Such as in the early seventies when she wrote and sang a song called I've got the pill. I think probably one of my favorite songs of hers other than coal Miner's daughter in the city is I'm going to hire a wino to decorate the house. Great reaction guys.

Loretta is OG, no doubt! Who says a coal miner's daughter from Butcher Holler can't be gangsta? Quick story- Back in 1974, a young, blond Australian singer happened to get nominated for CMA Female Vocalist of the Year against Loretta, Dolly, Anne Murray and Tanya Tucker. Her name was Olivia Newton-John and she won the award! The backlash from Nashville was immediate and BRUTAL (with names like Cash and Wynette leading the fight) and she was treated like dirt by everyone in Nashville. Well, everyone except Loretta Lynn. Loretta wrote (and it was published in local media) "Olivia Newton-John when you come to Nashville, you give me a call, and I’ll help you any way I can. There’s room for all of us, honey." She's got brass balls and she will kick you @ss! That's why I love her so much!

Loretta was a scrapper. I'm one of those country girls who will smile as I tell a #&@×=, these shoes come off my feet your sassafras (yep censoring self lol)best run. But anyway back to the song...I love Loretta, I used to sing this one, "You ain't Woman Enough" and "You're lookin' at Country" at one of the bars I frequented before moving to Texas. Loretta was a scrapper, she wouldn't take crap from anybody, her husband included, she wrote a lot of her music based on real life circumstances. Y'all should watch the movie Coal Miners daughter. This song is one of her bigger hits, course not many of her songs weren't hits. As for the bourbon. I have a small criticism and maybe it's being done so y'all can remain sober to do these, I'm going to quote someone else's song...It ain't wine don't sip it, make it bubble when ya hit it, let it burn baby burn, burn.Then again, sometimes bourbon just has to be drank slowly so you can savor the flavor.
