Momma always made peanut butter fudge. After your last video I have done made 2 batches of mommas fudge...lol. My recipe is the same basically as Loretta Lynn's but I use 2 cups of sugar and 3 tablespoons of cocoa. Also I use 1/2 cup of milk instead of water. Momma would use water too but if we had milk she would use it. My mom was a coalminers daughter too and I miss her everyday. God bless

@@sharonlalli1414 In my recipe I put the milk, sugar and cocoa in saucepan on med heat whisk it a little to break down the sugar. In a big mixing bowl I have my 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 1 stick of butter and 1 cup of peanut butter. My sugar mix on the stove I stir bringing to a boil and get it to softball stage. When the sugar mix is ready I pour it over the peanut butter, butter and vanilla in my mixing bowl. The heat and the hand mixing melts the butter and peanut butter into the hot sugar mixture. I will stir everything by hand until it cools down and it will start pulling away a little from the sides of my mixing bowl. It will feel a little mushy and warm but not hot when time to pour it into a buttered dish or parchment paper. Even it out in your container of choice, Let it sit and chill in the frig or outside if cold enough then cut into cubes. Enjoy...God bless

I learned in an old cookbook that when you make fudge, always lightly grease the inside of the pan so when you boil the fudge the sugar crystals wont stick to the side and get back into your fudge that will cause the fudge to be grainy . It works every time.

“as soon as the water comes up to a bowl”, I was thinking how the water had to come up to a bowl?! Got it later 🤦🏻‍♀️, the accent of the area probably is that way of saying “boil” that sounds like a “bowl”. For us Europeans, where English isn’t our native language, is difficult at first to get the words right of what it really meant. Got it now.👌🏼🤗

I love that you are not in a hurry when you cut the fudge; that you give it the respect it is due after the magic of its alchemy by cutting it thoughtfully, and by placing every piece gently on the serving plate. I always feel like I have to hurry in the kitchen, and it makes for nothing but stress and a haphazard process. Thank you for being such a good teacher and making me see cooking and baking as an honor not only to the people it is intended for, but to the food itself, and ultimately to our Creator.

Yum, looks delicious!!!! My Grandma always made peanut butter fudge, and we had relatives helping when she passed, because we were all so beyond devastated, and coincidentally her recipes came up missing! Such a bummer, because she’s the reason that I was baking my own bread and making my own homemade noodles at the age of 18, when I first moved out. I wanted my family to eat like the food I had grown up on. I pretty much have everything mostly figured out, or close, but those recipes would have been such a treasure, especially that fudge recipe!! 🙏🏼

My mother told me recently that the fudge she likes best does not have marshmallows in it. She was a country girl who, like you, Mr Brown, and Loretta Lynn, learned about being creative and resourceful with limited ingredients for cooking and baking. Lori, I like your style in the old fashioned way of cooking; it's a great reminder and encouragement to others to remember how things used to be, and how the younger generations should be reminded that there are better things to life than just playing video games, watching disgusting and disturbing videos online, and being disrespectful of their elders. Mother taught me to keep an open mind, say PLEASE and THANK YOU, and BE HONEST. My mom could talk with you and Mr Brown and would like every minute of it; so would I. Wish I could reach into my computer monitor and have one of those peanut butter fudge bars right off that plate.

Miss Lori, this Christmas my family is going to be so happy I found you. You have all the old recipes. I can't thank you enough. If you could make grannies homemade banana pudding my dad would probably come to your house and kiss your cheek. I've been trying for 10 yrs to recreate her pudding. No pudding mixes, 100% from scratch. Most of the time she even churned the butter. However she did use Nilla Wafers as she got older. But at one time she would make the cookies. I've come close to hers but something is missing. I told dad it might be her love or spit😂 that makes the difference. She never used a recipe she just dumped and it everything came out the same every time, delicious! Love the stirring music, gave me a good chuckle! 🤣 Have a blessed day!

Nope, it wasn't warm and no meringue. But maybe the ingredients to the pudding is the key. She told me how to make it before she passed. But I was young and stubborn. The talk of a dab of this , and a good amount of that, never made to my ears let alone to a piece of paper. I wish I had paid more attention to the wise ole gal. Now I cook like she did, a little dab of this and a tad bit more if it doesn't look right.😁

This is the same recipe my mom made us growing up. I love Loretta Lynn. Loretta Webb & Dew little Lynn) I live about 10 minutes away from Butcher Holler! I’ve been to her childhood home many times. I love her movie ( Coal Miners Daughter) & her Songs. She is the best country singer they are in my opinion. Thanks for making this candy it brings back many memories of my childhood. 💗

Like my father used to say after a dessert he'd eaten a big lot of: "I need to go out and run around the house a few times hollering FIRE!" Thanks for sharing, Ms. Lori :)

I can’t wait to try this recipe! Family baking day on the 19th so we’ll give it a go. Thanks for such a wonderful taste of home and family in your videos. I see so many things you make that I grew up making. I’m from the Carolinas, but I guess country is country. ❤️ So much fun and inspiration on your channel. Gives me great ideas and inspiration for my channel, too.

My neighbor made some of this fudge, I bet it's the same recipe. My mother used to make chocolate fudge using milk, sugar, vanilla, and baking powder; best in the world. Oh, and walnuts too.

I love this! It has taken me to get older to appreciate Loretta Lynn and I am in awe of her and others like my family especially my grandparents who made something out of nothing by using what they have! I will have to try this recipe although my kids would miss their Granny’s Velveeta Peanut Butter Fudge.

Thank you for the tip on not having a grainy fudge. I quit making cooked fudge because it was always grainy. 😁👍❤️
