Fixed my lorex dvr that died one day. No power no boot fix for lorex dvr. Turned out to be a bad power supply.

Lorex has a prolong and serious issue with listening and responding responsibly to its customers. if this fantastic ukrainianbear05's web site was not available, more than $500 would now be wasted. A 12V 4.5 A solved my stalemate, due to a power outage. If in fact the owner of this site is an Ukrainian, GOD BLESS you and all your sympatries.

Thank you for posting this! Our old 480p wireless Lorex DVR quit in a similar fashion, I think right after a power outage. I tested the power supply and it showed proper voltage, but after watching your video I was skeptical still and tried a different 12V power supply (a little lower amperage) and that confirmed exactly what your experienced. These 12V power supplies seem to be prone to dying after a power outage. I'm ordering another one on eBay as I am typing this. I'm glad I was able to revive our system and save myself the $800 price tag of buying a brand new system now. It's only a deterrent for us anyway and we don't actually rely on being able to get license plates and facial recognition from our system. Thank you for sharing this quick and cheap fix!

Thank you. Tried changing the hard drive, still not getting enough power to boot up. I actually used one of the extra power plugs from the multi-plug camera adapter since I am not using all 8 cameras. Worked like a charm. Now I just have an extra hard drive but can't hurt to have a backup drive handy.

3 years later, still helping people solve the problem. Used the power supply from a neck massager, DVR works like a champ. Ordered replacement from Amazon. Although, everyone can start at 5:00 and get the answer by 5:45.

Exactly the same as mine, swapped with a Hard drive power supply and it worked, Ordered a proper replacement on Amazon. Looks like the power supplies have about a 10 year life time. Which when left on for 24/7 isn't bad.

Sir, I wanted to take a moment and say thanks. Like you have a knowledge of electronics and feel comfortable working on them but if a board component need replacing I will leave that up to the pros. I had a similar issue with my system from Costco. The power came on but the board, determined later was under powered by a failing power block. After removing the cover to my system, I observed the board fan turning very slow & HD not spinning up. A quick search on Goggle and pow your KZbin post came up. I had an extra power block from an old system and poof the unit powered up and functioning like new. Thank you for your time in recording and posting your information in regards to the Lorex DVR systems.

Nice video. Thanks for the info, I never thought of that. Just for record, 2.5 amps and 2500 milliamps are the same. No metric terms involved. Also, don't use a 9 volt power supply because the lower the voltage is, the higher the amps drawn are. It may exceed the amp rating of the circuitry on the board.
@UpnorthHere6 жыл бұрын
That was hilarious! "Metric". Right -- as compared with the olde English system of standard amps or volts.

Also upgrade the power supply splitter to the cameras. If the video goes blank or there is color bleed, it may also be the camera power adapter.

I can’t tell you how many power adapters I’ve had to purchase between my Lorex system & my mom’s. I’ve had to replace AT LEAST 8 camera power supplies on mine alone & one DVR power supply. As of right now I have my mom’s NVR & believe it’s the same problem here. Great system, but whoever makes their power supplies is HORRIBLE though

Thanks!! weird, was watching the video and my camera started working again and I didn't do anything, going to go and get a new power supply though just in case it dies again. mine would start up and then shut down within a couple seconds before it showed up onto the monitor so I didn't know if it was the camera system or the t.v.s hdmi not working. thanks again!!

Nice video I am having a similar problem. My dvr wont turn on but when I test the adaptor with a multimeter it shows 12volts output. I wish you would have showed us a test of the adaptor first. I happen to have an another adaptor that i use for a police scanner i just have to find the correct attachment for it to switch it to 12v . Wish me luck i hope it works.

I have replaced the stupid cooling fan on this board twice now, so when it started emitting 4-second-long ear-splitting beeps at 2:30am a few days back I figured it was time for another one. Alas, it would not even turn on this time. Wish I had tried swapping power supplies before opening it up again.

@rafikbatroussy12505 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, in my case it was the wire connecting the adapter to the electricity plug that was defective. The adapter itself was ok. When I changed that wire connection my DVR worked again normally. That's so tricky and frustrating, specially that with the defective wire the whole DVR sometimes turned ON but it did not detect the hard drive to save the recordings.

I just came across your channel. Would you please help? I bought a system from a store a few years ago and it worked, then one day the recorder stopped working completely. I don't know what to make of it. LNR6108x-n is the recorder, how to troubleshoot it? What could go wrong? It is not a power supply, it shows 48v

After a year and half the adapter went .. changed it and up and running.. at the 2 year mark the fan stopped cooling and would hit the high heat limit and shit down. Replaced the fan thanks to Amazon and it was up and working... now at the 3 year mark there is power at the display but no signal from the cameras... just happened. Tried another ac adapter and still just beeps and no signal from dvr to TV. . I only have the power light on the front display on. I will look at it tonight and if cannot repair it .. i will never buy a lorex ever again .!!!
