Irons are like shoes, they wear out and you need a new pair every six months to keep you running especially if you use it daily for many hours.

I have been making myself insane reading articles and reviews for irons as I prepared to buy a new one. Your video is absolutely the best and most informative of all of the resources I've seen or read so far. Thank you! It is incredibly helpful that you offer information based on personal experience about the issues most important to me, both a quilter, someone who likes to sew in general and having wide-spread arthritis. I was considering one of the Oliso irons because I wanted a long power cord and liked the pop-up feature, but the large number of complaints about it failing soon after purchase(followed by comments about their excellent customer service, but that's like buying a sports car and being happy that the dealer zips out with a tow truck quickly every time it breaks down!) was discouraging and hard to discount at that price point. I was really surprised by your comments about the super tiny iron and would never have considered it based on its small size and price, but your comments have changed my mind. My experience with all things Sunbeam are the same - too often it doesn't work out of the box, or last only briefly. Dodging that one for sure. Thank you again for an excellent video loaded with great info.

Linda Carlson-Hewitt Thanks! I would say as soon as you want to invest in the steam generator, go for it. I love that thing! I’ve spent way more than that on all the irons!

Thank you very much my 13 year old Rowenta is draining water everywhere. Time for a new iron. I appreciate this video very much.

Thank you! My thumb gets a hey when I have to press too hard, so really appreciate your sharing! I also really like the way you show the sole plates. Too often advertisements just show an iron’s profile when it’s the bottom that does the work: ugh! And I’ve been vacillating between the wand-like Prim-Dritz vs the little handheld Steamfast. I think I’ll go with the handheld one... thank you!

I know this video is two years old, but do you still have the OLiso mini iron? It gets really annoying when the manufacturers of these other brands think that all of us are right handed people. I have the Dritz version of the one you have from Walmart and they are all made from the same factory.

Hmmm.. microsteam 400. I do like it best but I did have to send it back for warranty repair. It works great now.

The CHI Iron is actually a Hamilton Beach. Doubtful it will last all that long.

I really need an iron without the auto shut-off function. Can you recommend?

I would love that too! The mini irons don’t shut off. That’s all I know of.

What do you think of the Velocity iron? Thank you.

How do you keep the plates so clean? I make doll hats so I use iron on adhesive a lot and it leaves my iron full of black gunk.
