★ 4K 🇨🇭 Landquart - Vereina - St. Moritz snow cab ride, Switzerland [01.2021] Führerstandsmitfahrt

We've looked at this line twice before on this channel, but not with this much snow!
Enjoy the trip as we slowly gain altitude from Landquart at 523m above sea level to St. Moritz at 1775m above sea level, passing through the longest meter gauge railway tunnel in the world (Vereina) and through many beautiful Swiss mountain villages.
For those of you who are more train saavy, you'll notice that a lot of the older RhB rolling stock is still in service. Since this has been shot, all of the Ge 6/6 II, Ge 4/4 I & ABe 4/4 IIIs have been retired, and most trains have become push pull, no longer requiring the locomotive to change sides at the end station.

As a kid in Canada I fell in love with Europe and its people, always wanted to go and visit for a while...wonderful vids like this makes you recapture some of that magic. Too bad about all the problems they're having today...I hope they can save themselves from decline/degradation...it's also a bit dangerous now to travel there sadly...hopefully the politicians can fix the mess they created and return Europe to the place we all admire.

I know the phenomenon. We had 40+C temperatures in Melbourne (not suggesting that Melbourne is hotter than Sydney 😉 ) on 1997/11/30 and the movie "Fargo" was on the TV in the evening. The opening scenes of driving through a frozen wasteland seemed to reduce the temperature in the room by about 15 to 20C.

Thank you both, yet again you bring us a historic document - good to hear the sounds of the machine fighting the winter adhesion issues as it accelerates, brings home the sheer effort you all put out to make it work all year round. In the nearly 3 years since this was filmed, so many Capricorns have been delivered and I understand the new timetable sees RhB passenger service mostly unitised, apart from GEX and Bernina traffic of course. What regular loco-hauled passenger traffic is left now? Very little outside of Albula push-pull, I suspect. Thanks again and merry Christmas \m/

Hey there! Many thanks!! Yeah true the 4.3% ramp is quite demanding. Loco hauled are the Glacier Express, Albula IR, freight trains and vereina car trains. This is is the new normality. Everything else is Capricorn or Allegra EMU. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Signal visibility is clearly a bit of a problem after heavy snow, judging by the amount of snow that gets trapped on signal heads. I could barely see the indications on some of them.

Wonderful journey through a winterdreamland . I have been in your country several times for professional reasons and once used my car from Chur to St. Moritz, but this happend in summer. During winter the region is even more beautiful. Incredible. In my Opinion the best place to live in Europe.

Gern geschehen. Für mich ist diese Lok Ge 4/4 II die Beste Lok der Rhätischen Bahn. Einmal hat eine Lok kurzzeitig 205kN auf die Schiene gebracht. Notabene mit 50t Dienstmasse! 👍👍💪💪

Question about the old trains ABe 4/4 llls that were deem obsolete and removed from service, when did these type of trains enter active service for the Swiss Railways Systems. Just wondering how many decades or years this type of train was used for active passenger service before it was decided to replace the ABe 4/4 llls and replace them with a all-new upgraded train variant for active passenger service. It seems from a distance the old trains had been used and maintained in excellent condition for the duration of their time in service.
