Usually this wouldn't be the best but you can't float a breather bag so this is the best way to acclimate in this situation.

I put my shipped goldfish in a bucket with same temp. right away and work from there. After room temp I drop in a tiny heater to slowly heat up to quarantine tank temp.

Hi! I’m planning on getting a betta fish. She is going to have a 10 gallon all to herself, a low-flow filter, and a heater that stays at 78 degrees. We will also prime it and add some vitamins to the water, but do I really need to cycle the tank for a betta? And if I need to, do I have to do all the stuff with adding ammonia and the nitrates and nitrites or can I just let it sit for a month and feed it every 2-3 days? Thank you!

i would say you could do the minimum of cycling a tank for a betta. i would say to definitely cycle it, and to speed up the process you can use API quick start:)

DIY Animals Projects! Letting it sit for two weeks means nothing. You have to use an api master test kit to tell when it’s cycled. You need to dose ammonia (the easiest way is using pure ammonia) to at least 2ppm. Then to know when it’s cycled the ammonia will have dropped down to 0ppm the nitrates will be 0ppm and the the nitrates need to be at least 5ppm.

For any fish you need to do a proper cycle. When I started my first tank I put fish flakes in every other day and it took a month but it was worth it. 10 years later and I can still use the media for new tanks!

theXxgajxX goldfish do best in temps of 72-75 so I’m keeping her at 73 :) they are fully tropical but they also do better in a little heat!

Really? I’ve done a lot of reading and I’ve read they can do well but it’s not recommended since it ages them and Speeds up their metabolism.

theXxgajxX yes! If the temps are too high like 75-76 it def speeds them up! But too cold actually slows them down and can slow their metabolism and cause problems pooping and eating. 71-74 is a happy medium!
