Love this one even more!! And I do hope that they end up together because I feel she is James equal. A worthy partner. I love that she doesn't take any crap from him, while still managing to care deeply. The thing that made me not want Zilpha with James, is when it clicked that she had been working with the EIC (as Strange tells us) behind even Thorne's back, to contest Horace will. Which means she would have got her hands on Nootka and made a deal to sell it. Soooooo.... Zilpha was working with James mortal enemy - the man who tortured him and stole his youth and innocence by turning him into a monster for the Company - in order to sell his mother's land. The one thing James is fighting to keep, and willing to die for. Which means they are fundamentally opposed. While Lorna, turns down the bribe (at the threat of rape) to contest the will, and actually gives her half of the land to James AND reveals the Treaty. They are united.

I just watch this swho and I totally agree with you. I don't like Zilpha. She may be love James but she's not loyal to him. She would never been as loyal and devoted as Lorna. And the way James let her sister go when he rejected her prove that he's aware of that. He rejects his sister but he won't let his friend ask Lorna out. P.S : I'm french. Sorry for my bad english.

Zilpha was a teenage boy's love It had a lot of sexual tension and the "alluring forbidden" but that's about it. An adult man's love is more; compassion, understanding, loyalty. Zilpha didn't possess any of these qualities. As soon as he arrived on the doorstep, she wanted him gone, didn't even give him a chance to explain himself. She was in league with the EIC to sell the land that he would die for. She believed all the rumours about him. She didn't help him in any way , and was not a part of his team. Sure they had great eye contact 🔥but as I said that's about it Contrast this with Lorna. Okay they had no steamy scenes but their interactions were so much deeper. She began to really care about him and see him for how he is. Not just a monster but a man, troubled and flawed but also with a heart. He confided in her, trusted her and she genuinely looked out for him, loyal even at the cost of her honour. Some things were foreshadowing of a potential romance - the fact he doesn't want her with the chemist and how much she gets on well with Robert (they could be parents to him) but also importantly James ALWAYS pays back his debts and lorna said he owes her everything a husband owes a wife It's a shame we won't get more of them But I think they're endgame.

I don't think that his relationship whis his sister was the ' taboo ' thing. I think it's what he did in Africa or on that slaveship. And Zilpha was so useless anyway.
