My mother was an expressive art therapist so I grew up taking hundreds of visual and psychological tests. I still see art as a sort of Rorschach ink blot, which invites the viewer to tell a story in his head, given this (insert art here) as a prompt, a starting point. I think humans value storytelling as the glue that holds a civilized society together. This story formed instantly and evolved as you spoke. She is in prison, wrongly convicted for killing her husband and she is making her way back from the well with water for the warden and some for the prisoners. She is pouring his water on some weeds so that he will suffer the heat and pouring hers out too so he can't take it for himself, flexing what little control she has over her situation. She has accepted her fate a long time ago and is resigned to helping others that deserve it share her sorrow. She has a loud and healthy laugh that echoes across the lake...

I see her gesture as a SHRUG, not really caring that what she's carefully brought from the river is pissed away

Wow - I invest a lot of time in learnings here on KZbin but every time I watch one of yours I realise that most of the time I spend anywhere else is a frivolous waste of time. As always, priceless - thankyou so much - 🙏🏻 🌼 🙏🏻

I saw Lady Justice, weighted in favor of wealth & the past. The contrasts are not limited to the objects she is holding but also in the fabric on her skin. For me that is a reminder of the ugly historical narratives on blackness. Although she is surrounded by these preceptions she shruggs them off, they do not hide her grace & strength.

Wait, you pixelated art? KZbin makes you do this? This nonsense makes me so sad.
