Another tip coming from someone who used to spend his summer in the middle of the sea. . . . Put those sea urchins in a net after you caught or bought them and shake them by pulling on the net left and right. This will remove the spikes and make it easier to open them with your hands. . At the risk of sounding dumb, does that hurt it if it is alive? Like, when you crack the beak, does it hurt? I feel like cracking the shell wouldn’t hurt because it’s a shell, but idk. When you eat the “meat,” is that part alive? Does it feel you chomping on it? Genuine questions 😅😅

So delicious 🤤, nothing like diving and spear fishing and then when done fill your dive bag with a few uni, then eat them right on the beach after rinsing them in the ocean 👌🏽 Some people might be thrown off by the texture but the taste is similar to an oyster 🤙🏽

Easier way for me would be cutting it in the middle with the use of a knife. You can just remove its mouth after opening it so you wouldn’t struggle with the scissors.

there are plenty of asian countries that eat their seafood live for optimal flavor. it's really delicious. the americans freaking out about this won't give it another thought when they go eat burgers.

@@Ludicc_it tastes like crab butter. In other words, intensely creamy, buttery, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. It has no texture since it’s so delicate and soft, so when you bite into it the meat offers absolutely no resistance other than a mild fiberous sensation
