As someone who lived in LA when the game came out, it truly felt so odd playing the game and going out normally. They did an abolutely perfect job. I dont know how they scout music for each city but when it came to the radio station then too it matched exatcly the music scenes in LA at the time.

@@AlmondChocolateMilk i think you are right but the most important thing for me is the ambiance, GTA 5 i think it has the most realistic and natural illumination of all games (artistically and technically) and comparing it to the video it almost looks the same if you know what I mean, GTA 4 colors sometimes looks excessively washed and monochromatic and I think that makes it look far less believable NYC recreation than GTA five's LA, at least in my opinion

@@Mon-O-Chrome The mod VisualV turns up the ambience to a whole new level, night and sunset are incredibly beautiful and make me feel like I'm back in Cali. Speaking of 4, the washed out color tone was mainly because of the more serious nature of the story. 4 looks fine when its sunny, the problem is that this is New York in the fall so it's cloudy 80% of the time.

They did a great job of replicating the city by choosing iconic pieces and bits and buildings of it. But if you were to look at a picture from the point of view of the Vinewood sign and compare it to a photo of a POV from the Hollywood sign, you would visibly tell how much they cut out. So if you go to Los Angeles, you’ll still need a map.
