The Pacific Electric is alive and well !! I protested years ago when it was abandoned and I was ridiculed, called a trolley jolly. Now I'm called a transit expert. Vindication is so sweet........

You can go from long Beach to Pomona starting in January. It's something like 60 miles.

Why did they go with overhead catenary rather than third rail etc? Seems a lot of extra infrastructure and expense?

This isn’t a full ride; you just combined an Azusa-LA ride with the same LA-Long Beach ride from a couple months ago. Why were you not able to actually film a full ride southbound?

These videos were both filmed on the same day, and the previous was published to test the waters of this newer concept I was doing! There is also a driver change at Union Station, where the cut is, and it’s required because otherwise the operator can’t get out.

@@TigerRailfanNo but I could tell when the train stopped at Watts Towers that that was the same footage from the Union Station-Long Beach cab view video you posted 2 months ago because I distinctly remember that northbound Union Pacific train from that video. The driver between Union Station and Little Tokyo was a totally different person than the one from Little Tokyo to Long Beach, and I know a driver change didn’t happen there because I watched that previous video and he was on there the whole time. Did you *actually* ride all the way from Azusa to Long Beach or did you get off at Little Tokyo and just add in footage from 2 months ago to cover the rest?

I get that it’s kinda selfish that I think this, but I kinda wish the A Line took the East LA section while the E Line took the Pasadena section, mainly because I go between Pasadena & Santa Monica more than Pasadena - Long Beach, East LA - Long Beach, East LA - Pasadena, & East LA - Santa Monica

That’s not selfish at all :) I’m sure loads of other people prefer that way too who move between East La and Long Beach and Santa Monica and azusa

@@TigerRailfanAzusa to San Monica actually makes more since because one direction ks going to the beach and the other by the San Gabriel mountains.

I think they did it this way for two reasons: 1. I think passenger use patterns favor this set up. 2. This way, one line is (mostly) east/west and the other is (mostly) north/south. Obviously, this breaks down after Pasadena, but meh. At least it is only a single cross platform transfer between any of the four directions.

@@Geotpfyour all wrong the original propisition was when the Blue line was built it was supposed to go to Pasadena from Long Beach
