I have been to the LA Zoo every year, and I mentally have the picture of every animal in there. Fun Facts about the Zoo! 1. Did you know that the Komodo dragon at the zoo was once illegally stolen? The dragon used to be in a suitcase, and was being shipped to America. However, the person who stole him was caught, and when the dragon actually made it to America, the zoo decided to keep it as it was deemed unreleasable. 2. The LA Zoo is one of 4 zoos in the US that holds the Tasmanian devil. 3. Before the lions Hubert and Kalisa came, there were 2 other lions, named Cookie and Lionel, but they are historic in the LA Zoo's history, as they were one of their more famous animals. So when they died, they were honored and sadly mourned. 4. The zoo usually has more than one exhibit for one animal. There are 3 exhibits for the tapirs (one near the hippos, another near the tortoises, and another in Rainforest), 2 exhibits for the giant otter, and 3 separate gibbon exhibits. 5. A new species of animal called the pudu came in 2018. As a proud Korean-American, I am glad to hear that the baby's name was Haechan, the name of a band member in Korea. Bonus: There is an abandoned Los Angeles Zoo 2 miles east of the actual zoo. The zoo was so badly managed that they had to pack and move to a better area. The zoo is still able to open, but all that there is left is rocky remains of panther and polar bear exhibits and almost prison-like cages.

The Hellabrunn Zoo has the closest Meerkat experience by far it's located somewhere in Munich, Germany the only thing separating you from the Meerkats is a small short fence

@@IntheLoopPodcast It is a really nice zoo. Their is an Orangutan Lab that allows Orangutans to climb 50ft in the air, it has one of the countries only desert dome, their is an underwater Dolphin Dome, and they have some massive elephant fields.

@@legamature not only that. We have even more animals, a huge variety of animals, we have a skytram, a waterfall cave where people can walk through, A kids zoo, lots of plants.

@@legamature The L. A. Zoo actually has 130 acres , The San Diego Zoo has 100 acres. S. D. Zoo has better homes for the animals .

You shouldn't because if it weren't for some zoo's some of those animals wouldn't survive in the wild on their own and I'm sure they get good medical treatment
