I have both and really enjoy both. When you have a large RC collection, the RYFT makes more sense - to me at least - it does things differently. I like taking it out as it’s an adventure! Can climb insane inclines at speed and is exciting… the Lasernut is great also. Does everything well. If you’re only able to have a couple of RC’s, then the Lasernut will give you more satisfaction more of the time. But if you have a wider collection then you need both. There’s nothing else like a RYFT!

Jason you should watch videos of the real ones and that would help you understand them better and the differences between them. For instance the Lasernut, the guy that built that he uses it for high speed desert racing. They are hitting big bumps at very high speeds so independent suspension is a much smoother ride in a situation like that. The Rift is designed for hill climbing or mountain climbing with boulder out croppings and rocks and with the a solid axles you're able to keep all 4 tires planted. Where as some of the UTVs that have independent suspension hill climbing, when they get one wheel in the air and only have 3 tires contacting the ground they usually are dead in the water. Independent suspensions are terrible for mountain climbing because they don't have enough axle drop. The A arms only drop as far as a shock allows them. With solid axles you get more axle drop and more articulation between front and rear to keeps more tires in contact with the ground. The Ryft is overpowered because they rely on wheel speed and momentum to get up the mountain or hill. There's a video out there with a kid and his dad are driving the Ryft up a loose dirt hill and that's where it's in its element and would be a lot more fun. Both are good trail vehicles though just run them on 2s or 3s when going trailing because you don't need all that power. The Ryft isn't meant to be a rock crawling vehicle because of the longer wheel base but can be adapted to. The same guy who built the Lasernut also built what he calls his moon buggy which I think the Capra was designed after and is a rock crawling vehicle. Each vehicle has it's special place depending on what your in to. I have spent many days with my Revo 3.3 hill climbing and had to take extra air cleaners so we could run all day because they would clog up with dirt then the engine wouldn't run. The Rytf is the answer to that problem so now all you need is lots of batteries and maybe 2 Rytf's so one can cool off while running the other one.

Nice job explaining the differences between the 2 RC's. Watching them in action really helped. Both cars are awesome in their own way. I'm looking for an alternate set of tires for my Lasernut and wondered if the Ryft tires would fit.

Enjoyed the running footage of these back to back 👍 I definitely should have gotten the lasernut 🤣 I also need to get the sway bars on my Ryft, yours drives so much better. I am actually fine with the power system in the Ryft, your right it's ridiculously overpowered! Looking forward to those upgrades 😀

I have a Ryft and agree... it's overpowered (even on 3S). I have mine all metal (except the cage), and fully locked and it actually makes for a really nice crawler (it also has rear-steer) that has occasional bouts of full throttle fun. I have super-wide-offset wheels on it to help it tip over a bit less and they help a lot. I'm here now because I'm looking at maybe getting a Lasernut. It looks like fun... the fact that it handles well is why I like it. Think of it as a faster, off-road Typhon of sorts. I'm having some trouble with the price of the Lasernut, though... so I dunno if I'll get one.

Obviously the Lazernut is a superior all-round vehicle. The primary reason the Ryft traversed the rocky sections of your test was due in large part to the bigger tire diameter

Pretty hard to compare them when they are built for a totally different style of running.

Hey Jason, I liked the video its informative and you had some good opinions about the cars. That being said I would like to know your thoughts or anyone else as well, I am looking to get into the hobby I always liked the Wraith and just look at the Ryft as the evolution of the wraith. anyway on to my question I would like to get an RC that can do some bashing and some crawling I know these are not the same thing and really the cars have different needs but I really don't want 2 cars as a starter lol and I really like Axial cars for some reason so I was looking for something like the Bomber, Ryft or even a Yeti what would be your opinion on a good car for both Crawling and bashing

The Ryft is cool looking for sure but it seems to leave everyone kind of scratching their head. Would like to see those axles show up in a next generation SMT10 kit someday though.

If you put every upgrade on the rift it still doesn't come close to the lazer nut stock

I’ve owned both, Lasernut lasted 3 packs before it demolished the transition. Sent it back as not fit for purpose!
