Great choice of colours Rich. The Richmond Tigers my AFL team. It looks great and some nice specs. But I'm finding that the Crawler scene (which I am a newbie) it's hard to get a kit. Most of the companies are selling RTR, or at least the large majority of their range is RTR. The kits seem to be old stock and discontinued etc. As you know I like to build, and I'm to inexperienced to go full on making my own chassis, suspension combo etc. yet Not sure if it's just what I'm seeing here in the land down under or the ploy is to sell RTRs, then you spend hopping them up, or they have just decided that even in kit form so many people hop up the kits. Thanks for another great unboxing Regards Garszy.

Good info. Nice picture. Great video as usual!! A little correction though, the chassis is 3.5. This draws my question, I'm kinda swaying between the Rock Rey and Losi Ten SCBE. They seem more or less the same except for the capacity of motor and few other things. Which do you think I must go for? Noting that I have the Desert Buggy DBXL and the MTXL Monster Truck. Thanks
@TheRCNetwork7 жыл бұрын
Good catch on the chassis thickness. The Rock Rey has a bit more following with the U4RC racing segment and will have more aftermarket support down the line. The "Ten" line of vehicles is more closely designed after a 1/8th scale buggy with three geared (fluid filled if you change from the stock grease) differentials. The Rock Rey will be more scale and have that unique IFS and rear solid axle. The Ten will drive a bit better with a full independent suspension

After some jumps I notice my rock rey struggling to go. It can spin tires but I can hold the tires to make it stop. I can hold the front tires and rear wheels spin but if I hold the rear it. I checked axle points to make sure puns didn’t come loose and those seem okay. I don’t believe they have a slipper clutch and the gears in the transmission look okay no teeth missing. Any help would be appreciated wish I could contact you better for a q and a on this project
@TheRCNetwork4 жыл бұрын
Not sure on that one. The Rock Rey has a fixed transmission and a center diff, so no slipper clutch. You're going to have to start trouble shooting starting from the front to the back
@InTheDogHouse3DPrinting7 жыл бұрын
Do you know if anyone offers any alloy aftermarket parts for this beast? It wouldn't be too hard to make adjustable links for the front, and rear of this beast. Would make it easier to tune the suspension on it. Are those glued tires and wheels, or are they bead lock? A faster, and easier way to measure the track width is to measure from the inside of the left tire to the outside of the right tire, and the wheelbase is to measure from the front of the rear tire to the front of the front tire on either side. That way you don't have to try and measure from the center of the axle to get the wheelbase measurement. :) Another great video, and I'm going to pick one up next month.
@TheRCNetwork7 жыл бұрын
Yes, Losi offers several option parts to start. Vanquish and others are quickly adding items almost daily. Tires are glued to plastic wheels. For U4RC rules, track width is exactly that....from end of tire to end of tire and it cannot exceed 13" Wheel base is from axle to axle, and cannot exceed 15" Just sayin, RB

Hello Rich ! I was wondering in kit form just standard box equipment would you recommend the axial yeti or the axial score trophy truck ? Just for some backyard bashing. Is one faster than the other right outta the box with same electronics? I'm torn between the two.
@snarl30277 жыл бұрын
Johnny Davis I just bought an axial yeti 1/10 less then a month ago. The esc had thermal shutdown issues out of the box and died on me last Friday. In hindsight I would definitely go with the losi. Wish I did
@TheRCNetwork7 жыл бұрын
If you just want to through battery in, the Losi is the ticket. The electronics are solid....In fact the race I was just at was won by a guy running a stock Yeti with Rock Rey electronics! lol
@garszy7 жыл бұрын
It's a bit of a Axial Bomber RR clone but how different can a Rock Racer be? It really based around the same platform. I'm no fan boy, if Losi make a better rig than another brand then I'll go Losi. I rely on people like Rich to help me make an informed decision and choose what best suits my needs. In saying that I only own one Losi, the 1/14th scale Mini 8ight T. I'm not in to club racing so I have no idea as to what is popular, so my ability to comment on the "copying" of what other brands have already released and if or are they innovative or just chasing their competitors is zero. But sometimes being the first to release an idea isn't always the best. Team Associated rereleased a V2 diff kit for their 1/8 RC8E4.3 (I hope I got that right🤔) to their credit they were proactive on fixing an issue. But @ $ 100 extra. It's a beautiful kit even pre diff V2, sometimes holding back, can be beneficial for design flaws, what sells or is popular etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but Horizon Hobby would be considered more of an aircraft brand. Actually I lied I have the Vaterra K5 Ascender kit, waiting to be built. I tried to get the SCX 10 2 but sold out worldwide. "Apparently" someone has lost some of their moulding equipment during a factory move, so even an ETA, is unknown. I guess what I'm really saying is that at the end of the day if they build good kits, then it maybe worth the wait?
@TheRCNetwork7 жыл бұрын
No, more of an Axial Yeti with the IFS in the front. The Bomber is solid axle f/r.

It's not as much as you think. Tires, if you compare PL BFG Krawlers to let's say Hyrax (unlicensed), there's a $4 price increase per set of licensed. Body wise, if there's Jeep license, its likely $25-30 difference. The Rock Rey has tires and wheels....Which is likely less than $10 increase, if that. Most enthusiasts crave the scale realism, and branding helps.

Jeff O well, i think it's more an effort to take a bite of the same apple. if the added competition forces axial to improve their product is that really a bad thing? anyway this is a perfect time for losi to push their products since axial's production is shut down at the moment. i'm really interested to say what rich's opinion of it is after running. i've heard there have been issues with the pinion bearings failing because they are undersized. i've also heard the repair is a pain because of the way the drive shaft grub screws are threadlocked.
