Losi Tenacity DB Pro Unboxing and In-Depth First Look

Excited to have the Losi Tenacity DB Pro on the CCxRC bench to do show you guys. My second RC was a Losi TEN-SCTE and looking over this reminds me of that truck that I loved so much.
There is a lot to like about this Desert Buggy. The build quality of this RTR is superb. The shocks feel great out of the box, the tires have nice foam in them, it has a 3mm thick 6061-T6 Aluminum chassis, 4mm thick shock towers, and the waterproof Spektrum electronics look great and offer new SMART technology to the user as well as AVC which helps the driver maintain control and provides a great driving experience (I know it's not allowed in racing, but I love it for general use and bashing).
Oh...and the Tenacity Desert Buggy Pro just looks amazing!
The one thing I'd like to see different is the battery tray. This is a step up from the Tenacity DB design that loads from the bottom, but I'd rather have velcro and not have to bring spacers, screws and tools with me to switch it over and run 3s batteries or to switch back to 2s batteries. I'll probably move it over to the 3s mount and make a foam pad to wedge between it and 2S batteries. But that is not a reason not to buy a vehicle. I say this about a lot of vehicles that choose not to run velcro straps.

Thanks Ben. It feels really solid and substantial for its size. I loved my Losi TEN-SCTE, but I definitely like the Desert Buggy styling more. I went with the other last time because I wanted to race. Now that I mainly bash, this is definitely my choice over a Shortcourse Truck.

Very informative, Tony. I currently own both size Rock Reys and this truck intrigues me. I run mainly Arrmas (I own 8) and love to jump my trucks either off my own ramps or at BMX tracks. I'm curious as to how well this will handle big air. I know it's not designed for that but I've done double backflips with my Super Rock Rey. I just can't help myself. Great review Tony I just sold my Lazernut I kept it stock and replaced front end parts to many times, so my wife ordered me a Tenacity db pro Lucas oil & I'm commenting a year after your video can't wait to have a rig to race my Bomber that isn't a pain in my blank lol

I bought the Lucas Oil and a month later i bought the Fox body set.if you do buy a body set makes sure you have sand paper and all your own screws and clips.

PhilthyCo RC Losi is considered a performance brand. Arrma is considered a basher brand. I do think we’ll see some of this tech start making it’s way into the other brands as Spektrum continues it’s growth. This is only 3s capable electronics and this car costs more then the ARRMA 4s. Each has to make choices based on what they want the cost to be. This smaller size vehicle 3s vehicle is $30 more then the 4s lineup. Put this receiver and transmitter in the 4s lineup and you are probably now upwards of $450-460. Same with the 6s, but upwards of $600. So it comes down to choices and what price point they think will sell in the market they are in.

PhilthyCo RC I would also strongly disagree that Horizon is hating on their cash cow ARRMA. My guess is that ARRMA is growing faster and selling more then the rest of their surface brands. I don’t know that as a fact, but it feels that way in my area. Not to mention what I see online and in videos.

It is great to know that you have priority and Horizon 👍. As for electronics. Is this receiver finally is compatible with normal radios? The second thing. Nobody is talking about sensors in the ESC’s and motors. I understand that they do not have that feature, so besides measuring temperatures and rpm (normally necessary 🤣), it is the simplest Hobbywing.

Thanks Jarek. It was a surprise to hear from Horizon about doing a review for this. Very excited to do it. Correct, this is a sensorless esc and motor. I still haven't been able to setup the smart features as the app update is going through Apple's approval process

Great job on this truck. One thing though maybe you should get a digital micrometer when you do these unboxing so you can measure the size of the shock Towers. Driveshafts. And a arms things like that. But I love your videos and your shows and I watch your eyes see conspiracies this week with Matt from RC overload is great. I grabbed some stickers. So they'll be going on my Yeti and a couple other my trucks. And I always post videos and pictures on rcbc. I imagine you know who they are. Anyways great job big thumbs up. That truck is so good-looking it's crazy. Would you happen to know if there is 1/8 scale truck with a cage like that. That maybe I could get it to fit on my hey scale truggy. I've got a highly modified sabertooth.

I totally agree with you! How about Chassis, or shock tower thickness or shock shaft dia.?Do some research and know what your talking about. I get more information from the pre-release ads at Losi or Horizon Hobby website. And when they say this is metal that is metal, nooo thats aluminum. I watch these in hopes to learn more about a vehicle. A lot of guys do it and it bugs me but I still like watching them!

Hello, I am trying to set the camber of an rc car called Team losi Tenacity DB Pro to 0 degrees. After setting it, it is strangely set. Is there a way to adjust the camber?

I have the original. I like how on the new version you change batteries from the top instead of the bottom which is a bit of a pain. Mine has the receiver in a waterproof box but this version just has it out in the open which is surprising. Overall I like the new version and wish it was available when I bought mine. BTW I really like mine, it’s been a great buggy, I just don’t like all the plastic which this version fixed.

In 2022, you get DX3 transmitter. However receiver is NOT in a watertight box, odd right. Wish had velcro battery straps, many complain 3S Spectrum batteries won't fit...What?! Also it's a given the Servo is gonna fry fast. Been sensible to had motor heatsink and fan I think. Plus 12mm wheel hex, like why? Will need 17mm hex upgrade soon for me, all my wheels are 17mm.

I just buy 3s lipos that are the same dimensions as the 2s packs. That takes care of the battery tray for me. If you're not afraid to poke some holes in the chassis, you can adapt a scte battery tray to it.

ESC looks nice. Can you give us little comparison lets say swap esc to ezrun max10 sct and compare car's handling. About the car, everything looks nice but WHERE IS RECIVER BOX O_O? And sadly smart technology as nice as it sounds has no place for me since spektrum radios are 5/10 at best.

It's a good looking desert buggy 👌I'm just not sure the $429 price is worth it to me. Plus you need a smarr battery and dx5pro to take advantage of all the smart technology they put into it. Would rather have normal stuff and pay less for it 👍

i just received mine today..and was disappointed that my steering is glitchy.. then tried to rebind it and the instructions are wrong.. anyway replaced my reciever with a spektrum sr3300 for the tests to see if I had a bad reciever and guess what no glitches...hmmm

another bad design is that the esc wires are 2 orange and one black and it plugs in either way into the receiver...

i sent horizon hobby an email with sitll pictures . they had me switch the connection between the steering and the esc on the reciever that came with the car over the phone and nothing worked except for the lightbar..

I just recieved one of these today..ordered it from horizon..the steering seems extremely loose and causing bad wheel wobble.right out of the box..trying to figure out how to fix instead of dealing with hassle of returns..450 bucks..disappointing

I'm not sure what that would be. Is the wobble when you are driving? If so, turn down the AVC. AVC can actually make the car unstable if it is set too high and you are going fast. I usually turn it off, but if I do turn it on...it's only at 20% or so

@@CCxRC this is straight out the box..I didnt even have to drive it to tell it wasnt good..I have taken it out twice now..I have never turned avc on its been off the whole time..I even adjusted toe link on the one side and it didnt help.it looks like the steering is really loose and thats the issue.I'm not 100% sure but I will be taking it to local hobby shop soon.maybe with the metal upgrade steering it will be the way it should..just sucks I have had it for less than 24 hours later and right out the box.450 dollar pain in the ass
