This is one of my favourite gravel rides of all time! Thank you for such beautiful footage of this stunning part of Scotland, I was able to relive this ride again from the comfort of a couche ❤👌

Another great video Alan, excellent watch. Have this book and this ride is on my bucket list for the future. Great to see it from a cycling perspective. Loved the interesting camera angles and drone shots ( time consuming 😅). Thank you for sharing 👍

Thanks Janice. I’m sure you’ll love the route - don’t wait too long……and secure any water shoes etc! 😀

Love the Gravel around Braemar! Did the red Bothy this year in June and I’ve done the ride up to Bob Scott’s a few times previously. The Glen Quoich loop is now on the “To-do” list! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. Yep, it takes a while to capture the footage then takes an age to stitch it all together. Appreciate the feedback. 👍

@@TwistyTrails Alan - I’m just starting out on the video capture - assembling the hardware. What video processing software do you use / recommend?
@TwistyTrails
@TwistyTrails Ай бұрын
@@nickforwood I use Davinci Resolve. It's a powerful tool, sometimes intimidatingly so, but there're plenty of Tubers out there offering tips to get the best from it. Good luck with the film making venture.....but beware, n+1 for bikes is great, but it also applies to camera gear too! 😃

This brought back a very fond memory indeed. I rode this route minus Glen Lui on my hardtail about 12 years ago & I remember accepting wet feet (no waterproof socks or water shoes - a great idea BTW) as a reasonable price to pay for a glorious ride. You make me feel quite nostalgic for the NE. The irony being that I have become a much better cyclist since moving away from the area & maybe only now realise just how brilliant the area is for gravel riding (or mountain biking as I thought of it then).
@TwistyTrails

@@HughDWallace glad to have brought back happy memories! Perhaps a visit back to the NE to tame those once gnarly rides? Of course, the water shoes are only a good idea if you strap them down securely! 😀

My local (drover’s) roads. There’s a nice extension east over Invercauld bridge, back of Balmoral, past the Lochnagar distillery and south to Loch Muick. Out n back from Braemar or back via South Deeside Road B976. You might even spot Charlie in his Landy. Anyway, good ride and love the production quality

Thank you for a great video. As a ‘newbie’ gravel rider, can you tell me what you mean by ‘water’ shoes? Forgive my ignorance!
@TwistyTrails
@TwistyTrails Ай бұрын
@@gillianramsay2865 welcome to gravelling! Don’t worry, water shoes aren’t the must have gravel accessory…..they’re just my ‘paddling on the beach’ shoes I pack if there’s likely to be a river crossing. Effectively just cheap neoprene shoes. I can’t do bare feet across rivers and same at the beach: in a previous life as a wannabe surfer I was stung by a weever fish, so always boot up! 👍

Nice one Al, is that an X4 you're using now? Footage looks way better than previous 360 offerings. My X2 is collecting dust these days.
@TwistyTrails
@TwistyTrails Ай бұрын
@@PeteDevlinootnaboot Cheers Pete - yep it’s an x4. Did away with the protective lens covers though as they were adversely affecting the image - bit of a risk, but used the x2 without protection and got away with it. The x4 works well with the wind mufflers on the microphones too. Tried my hand at colour correcting/grading on this vid…..never again! Go Pro and x4 reset to normal colour mode for next one!
