Losing my mother | repost from

It's impossible to capture the complexity of my relationship with my mother and it's too soon for me to have fully processed her passing.
All I know is that I didn't expect her death to hit me in the way it has. I didn't anticipate just how untethered to my own past I'd feel: the two people present in all of my childhood memories are now gone. My heart hasn't yet grown accustomed to the sharp edges of the loneliness that now dwells within.

I had the blessing of knowing your parents. I also had that blessing of growing up, and being dragged to a common location on Sunday's, too thankfully have been able to meet and hang out with you. Both of your parents loved you more than you'll ever know. However it's the same love you have for your children. Their generation had a different way of expressing it. You couldn't ever have made them more proud than they always were. My condolences Kara. Much love
