Consider lowering the "resolution scale" option for LSFG. It only reduces the resolution at which motion is processed, and doesn't actually affect the outputted resolution. Setting it to around 80% at 1080p, 70% at 1440p and 50% at 4k is basically free performance.
@darrylcote397113 күн бұрын
So why not set it at 25% for more performance? Because it will look bad likely? So, it does affect visuals .
@ravenger244513 күн бұрын
@@darrylcote3971 Yes, it has deminishing returns. But at the right values, it has nearly identical quality. In fact, it was finetuned for 1080p, and some find 50% res scale to look better at 4k resolution. I also didn't say that it doesn't affect visuals. It just doesn't affect the resolution, which is what many people misinterpret it to do. THS will most likely change the term "resolution scale" to something else like "optical flow resolution" to avoid confusion.

@@ahmadjmms It really is not, msfs2020 and 2024 both take a toll heavily on CPU. On an rx6800xt it doesn't really use up that much Vram. The bottleneck is still the 12700k in this case. If I'm sensible with the core settings (like high rather than ULTRA on everything), with a 3070 GPU I find the sweet spot is 2x using 30fps base and 60fps scaling. That saves me forking out on a 4060-4080 GPU which I can ill afford. In almost all but the most complex scenes this makes for a very smooth experience. So for me Lossless Scaling is way better than any other method of FPS improvement. For a few dollars this software is absolutely amazing and a bit of a genuine revolution.

If you have a Gsync or a free sync monitor, consider doing this to reduce screen tearing and improve input latency. I have a 3080 12GB for reference. AMD may have similar settings in their own control panel. - In game, Vsync OFF. - In Nvidia CP, Vsync ON globally. - In Nvidia CP, Gsync enabled to windows + full screen applications. - In Nvidia CP, make sure LSS Vsync settings is set to "use application settings." in manage 3D programs. - In LS, Vsync set to DEFAULT. - In LS, GSync enabled. (Make sure Gsync or Free Sync is enabled in your monitor settings.) If the game you're playing has reflex support, enable that too. I've been using this for single player and PVE multiplayer games like Helldivers 2 with x2 frame gen and my FPS capped at 72FPS (I play on 144Hz), it worked flawlessly for me. I can deal with minor artefacts as you don't notice them when you're playing but tearing really annoys me. I hope this helps someone.

As a content creator for MSFS2020 I’d like to chime in here; I play a ton of FPS/Tactical Shooters. As far as these go, frame gen is useless. It generates far too many artifacts and often times you are seriously shooting at afterimages. With flight sim however it is an absolute miracle. I run a 3090TI w/ 12900KS combo, I average 20-30FPS with the A380 @ KSFO all settings ultra. When I turn on frame gen through lossless scaling I get around 80-120FPS. Yes there are artifacts but they only appear if your sensitivity is ridiculously high. Outside of that it’s extremely useful. The only downside is that since it feels exponentially smoother you’ll notice that you’re sometimes moving too fast as the game hasn’t caught up to the images yet. Usually it’s not that big of a deal but it is a drawback to be aware of. Outside of that frame gen is a gift and I highly recommend it to anyone with dated GPUs or lower spec pcs.

If you want the smoothest possible MSFS experience with Lossless, you need to limit the base frames in your video card's control panel, either to 50% of your monitor's refresh rate if you use LL in 2x, or 1/3 (33%) if you use it in 3x mode. Unlocked FPS will bring you stuttering. For the upscaling, it is not necessary.

Finally a usable case. For a flight sim like this, where you don't really need a responsive game (unlike for example DCS), having the latency of 30 FPS won't make it as bad as in many other games since you don't really move around much and you're just controlling a plane, but the smoothness your eyes feel from higher displayed FPS is pleasant.

ah yea, in the VR world we have something similar for long time already, but from my experience I can say smoothness is not about fps. Its much more about stable frame timings. You can have 100 fps and experience terrible stuttering, and you can have 25 fps and enjoy absolutely smooth experience. So what it actually makes smooth is when you have equal timings between frames (no matter rendered or generated). That is what counts most.
@cmdr-aurus-rex13 күн бұрын
and you can barelly achieve stable timings when you push your GPU to the limits. Therefore I always recommend to avoid pushing the GPU to the limit and cap the rendering frames to the minimum that can be achieved under stress conditions. So for example if you achieve at least 32 fps with no cap over paris or london with heavy weather, then cap it to 30. The overhead power available to the GPU will be used then to order the frames in the frame buffer so that you get stable timings. If you don't do that, all available power of the GPU goes into rendering frames and they will be pushed out as they are ready. This results in unequal frame timings and micro stutter experience.

There has been less artefacting than before, the only times it does is when I am FSLTL into a busy super hub airport and I spin the camera too fast. 99% of the time it has no artifacts, the only ones I see is from the TAA. So even 30FPS raw frames, it feels super smooth since it doubles. And the moment I get above 1000’ anything above RAW 45FPS it’s butter since it’ll be 90+FPS visually.

Don't use 20x custom, your screen artifacting and latency will go through the roof and everything will be unplayable. With LFS 3.0 FG, 3X looks extremely good now and the latency penalty is far lower than even 2X use to be before the update. At 2X or 3X (depending on how a chosen game responds to it), even the UI and reticles are fixed and don't bug out anymore. I recommend testing between 2X and 3X to find out what looks and feels better on a per-game basis - I've been using LFS 3.0 FG-3x with CAS Sharpening (100% resolution scale) with DLSS (if available) set to quality from the in-game settings and it is phenomenal.

While using lossless scaling got me stutters, even after locking fps to either: 20 / 30 / 40 fps to try at least double it using X2 mode. Resolution scale didnt help as well. If I'm doing it wrong let me know but I used Rivatuner to limit my FPS. Anyways, In profile there is 1 KZbin short video using stutter free Framegen mod and head tracking using my iphone as camera input 🤣🤣

Did you tried to use lossless without any vsync in that software?

any idea why when using lossless scaling my sim gets really dark really frustraiting
@tomothy881013 күн бұрын
you need to enable the HDR support option on the lossless scaling app, or turn off the HDR setting in your sim graphics settings. This will fix it

your understanding of frame generation is wrong, at least when it comes to nvidias flavor of it. frame generation does NOT wait for the next frame to be rendered and then creates frames inbetween the current and next frame! that would indeed introduce latency. instead they use something they call an optical flow field that is based on the current frame and past frames, and that lets them predict future frames. so they can generate a „fake“ frame after the current frame WITHOUT waiting for the next „real“ frame to be finished, therefore avoiding additional latency. this prediction is also the main source of artefacting that you may notice.

In my opinion, the, “latency” is pretty irrelevant. It isn’t noticeable in a flight sim.

So Lossless Scaling is useless if I’m at or below 15 FPS?

I’d say so!

I have a 7800X3D+3070 on a 4K 120hz TV, I get around 35fps, would getting a 5080 achieve much?
@regwatson201714 күн бұрын
No-one really knows yet. The raw power increase over your 3070 certainly would be a load better than what you have got but until reviewers get their hands on the cards a lot of what has been promised by NVidia is through extra generated frames not real frames. Whether that would be worth the new cost of a 5080 is hard to say given that early indications are you are going to be very lucky to get a 5080 at RRP. Personally my prediction is that they will sell out like hotcakes much like the 9800X3D currently is. Prices are inevitably going to be more like "supply and demand" if history is anything to go by.
