Im with the bank on this one. Your financial controller should have made sure the email was legit. It’s not the same as if your card was stolen and used to buy things or if somebody attended a branch and pretended to be you before withdrawing money from your account - the bank should be making sure that it’s actually you before handing your money over because they are responsible the same way your financial controller should make sure that it’s you before handing your money over because they are responsible.

Set up positive pay. It's a simple fraud tool which the bank will set up so that there is a two person authorization system for all payments. This was an employee mistake and a bank mistake from lack of service. However the bank is not at fault.

In my life Daniel, every bank, insurance co. And government Dept I've had dealings with have eventually ripped me off. I'm an honest man, why can't someone with integrity deal with me for a bloody change..

Daniel just some advice, all staff authorising financial transfers approvals must go through you, or speak to you, or submitt you with a payment list for out goings for approval Email fraud are killing business and personal customers. I had at least 20 the last month. Auditing payment requests are a must, hard, but its a must.

I know this is super old. I run of the biggest global cyber intelligence and cybercrime team for a giant tech company in Silicon Valley. I have worked hundreds of these cases. Companies like Danny's have to do a better job of knowing what scams are going on out there and they need to brief employees and put measures in place. If your staff is sending out funds based on an email that is on the company not the bank. People need to take responsibility for their actions. Even if you didn't know about this scam sending cash based on an email only is just bad practice.

When I worked in customer service for an energy retailer here in VIC I used to assist regular callers they would ask for me as I offered them personalised service ...sadly it's good old fashioned service people don't offer anymore...funny thing was the company didn't like me doing it lol That customer service lady handled the situation terribly especially ALL the fckn apologies I was getting pissed off and it wasn't even my money haha
