Eric, Dogen never said he would come as someone Sayid cared about. He said, "He will come to you as someone you know, someone who has died." That is all he says about him, so he knows it's not Kate because she is not dead yet, not because doesn't care about her.
@Adrianne5192 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing and that's far from true either, Kate and Sayid have always had a pretty strong bond, lol.

Kudos to you for showing restraint. If I was this close to the end and could, I’d binge the rest of the episodes. I was one of the ones that watched it when it aired. It was so frustrating waiting. Especially between seasons.

About Jacob saving Dogen's son... Pretty sure that Jacob can't bring people back from the dead. IF he saved the boy, it was probably by healing his injuries. In the past, we have seen Jacob help Locke and Illana to heal somewhat.

0:59 It’s Alex from The Expanse! Had no idea he was in this show. Btw, those who enjoyed Lost should really check The Expanse. I think it’s one of the top 3 SciFi stories ever put on film, be it a TV/streaming show or a movie. Check it out… ok, plug over.

Who says Dogen was lying and trying to kill Sayid? The specific blade…the instructions…consider the events of ‘Across the Sea’ and reconsider what Dogen sends Sayid to do in this episode
@rxtsec12 жыл бұрын
Exactly though what you said is kinda spoilery but yeah I believe Sayid would have succeeded had he not let him talk. Any other reasons I would give will give spoilers
@Damon2422 жыл бұрын
@@rxtsec1 bah I was trying my best not to spoil anything! It's just interesting to note that Dogen somehow got a hold of that exact blade and his instructions were so specific to Sayid; all that goes against it is MIB's implication that it was a set up...which he gives after Sayid let him talk first

The most important Sayid episode which is a great connection to this one is in S1. It’s Ep 21 titled “The Greater Good”. That whole story is about how Sayid’s love for Nadia prior to the island drove him to search for her, it then even drove him to help talk his old school friend blow himself up to help the CIA. He never did that just to help the CIA and save lives, he did it and got interested in helping them as soon as they told him they could help him get Nadia back. So Nadia is both his “love” and his kryptonite. It always has been since S1. In that episode it shows how he let his love and fixation with Nadia cloud his moral choices - sure he was doing what he did with the CIA to help a greater cause - however he was more than anything primarily motivated for his own self interest, and he was less thinking about his friend, and as a result it led to his friend feeling betrayed and thus took his own life in despair and shame for what Sayid had helped persuade him to do. Meanwhile on the island in that episode, it showed how Sayid was confronted with the choice of helping Shannon get revenge on Locke for the death of Boone. In that same sense, he was given the choice to do something for the person he loves or to do the right thing, the greater good. And in it, he does indeed chose the right thing. For as much as he loved and cared for Shannon he also loved and respected himself enough while he was with her, something he always struggled to do whenever he thought of or was with Nadia. In that sense he loved her too much, whereas Shannon was someone he loved but also could love and respect himself at the same time. I say all this because the character arc he takes here in this episode and this season isn’t out of nowhere. It’s simply the culmination of a backwards arc… he’s resorting to not only the ways he had before he came to the island in S1 but he’s getting even worse. Instead of the CIA offering him to track down Nadia, now it’s the MIB offering to somehow reunite him with her despite her death. And once more, he’s being offered this in exchange for doing whatever it is no matter the moral cost. So yes it’s a tragic and hard thing to watch, but this is the person we met way back in S1 except instead of moving forward on his path to redemption he went on from there into S2 and beyond, instead this season sees him complete his path backwards, a path which in a way began in S4 when he became a hitman for Ben. It escalated in S5 with him trying to kill young Ben and it climaxed here. So I always think it’s not completely out of the blue, it’s just hard to see that even in the last season he continues to not get better, if anything he just continues to get worse. I personally like it, even though I prefer the old Sayid, because it shows that redemption doesn’t come to everyone later in life or more towards the end of the story like it does for some people… like Sawyer’s arc or Ben’s arc. Some times in life people are great earlier and then life moves on, things happen, and then somehow they can’t get back to that great person they once were. Whether redemption happens moving backward or forward, redemption can happen. It just so happens that Sayid’s story is more about how he was redeemed and a better man overall in his more formative times, even though that man was always there at his core always, it’s just only back in the older days when he acted on that goodness the most. Great reaction!

yes!!! sayid/shannon supremacy!! i feel like when sayid is with nadia, he is reminded of the person he used to be, whom he feels deeply ashamed of. but with shannon, he sees the person he is now, a much better man.

ridiculous -- Dogen pressed a red hot iron rod against him -- how is he supposed to have no pain to that
@Damon2422 жыл бұрын
@@firstname4337 That's what he does after the test, to mark him. Observe the test - he blows ash over him and then switches on the machine, Sayid begins screaming and Dogen looks surprised; he double checks the reader on the machine and then, frustrated, he turns it off. He then walks over and grabs the poker, returns and brands him. Claire describes the same thing in episode 4 when she says that they captured her, hooked her up to a machine and ran their experiment before then branding her (which she shows to Jin). So what have you got to show for your argument of it being 'ridiculous'?
