Did you know that Liberia played a crucial role in World War II? In this video, I take you to Clippers Town, a historic site that once housed American soldiers during the war. This forgotten military base was a strategic location for the U.S. Army, helping to secure vital resources and protect West Africa from enemy forces.
Join me as I explore the remnants of this hidden history, uncover Liberia’s contributions to the war effort, and show how this place still holds significance today. If you’re passionate about history, travel, and discovering untold stories, this is a must-watch!

During World War II, the United States had a segregated army…the black Americans were the ones sent to Clippers camp to serve as a support team for the war with Germany in North Africa. They used to repair planes and provide logistical support. The black American actor Ossie Davies was at Clippers camp and wrote about his time in the camp in his biography. He stayed in that camp for nearly three years. Great video.

Thanks for this information. I see why all the photos of the soldiers at clippers camp during the war were black Americans. And thank you also for watching the video.

@ you’re an engaging story teller, I’ve been following you for a while. Now you need to find a way to scale..to bring more eyes to your channel. The Liberian Tourism Board, if it still exists, should reach out to Vloggers like you with a marketing contract. You help market the country.

Thanks. I was wondering if this is where Ossie Davis was stationed! Liberia has so many stories that are rarely told.

My grandfather probably would have definitely lived on that camp. He said he served with Ossie Davis. He and other African American soldiers were tasked with building RIA for the US military at the time. I never knew about this town . Great content as usual.

These people treat each other like animals. See where airport employees live. I thought it was some abandoned place. The fact that human beings live here is mind-boggling.

Thanks for the video. Nice history. I just wish we would develop the area around the airport. It’s the first thing tourist see when coming out the airport. Even our neighboring countries have areas called airport community and what you see is development not camps from 1940. These are usually hidden from the main road. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Thanks Phizzle, for bringing us up to a little history lesson our country and important involvement in World War 11. There was a joke when we were growing up that Hitler was looking for that Military 🪖 Base on the map. But could not find it because his finger was covering it due to the tiny nation Liberia 🤔
