Hello guys another very enjoyable episode thank you, how about putting some hi viz tape on the drone to make it a little easier to find? blimey what a spider by the way. We loved the "bottom of the fridge food" with Nath. So as you know by now we like living the dream, we delved in the bottom of our fridge for a cook up. We found some Christmas pudding left over from Christmas, you can guess how cold our fridge is it had a fur coat, there is some dried up bacon, a limp leek, a mouldy pear! and left over rice. We tried it and even with the Tabasco it don't look as good as your meal....Cheryl suggested I need crushed nuts😗 that's worrying!! Take care until next week👍👍

Haha that mix of yours doesn’t have the same ring to it, but I agree with Cheryl about the crushed nuts so let me know how that goes 😳😜

Nath, why is the water clarity different from the East to West sides of the Cape?
@WildReaches2 жыл бұрын
Hey Brad, in my opinion a few reasons. One is the west coast, particularly down the southern end is very low lying, loads of muddy salt flats holding water as it doesn’t get away quickly. The big reason is the Gulf. It’s very shallow and vast. Compare that to the east coast with the Great Barrier Reef and those big currents. The high tides on the east coast push so much clear water into the systems. And they have a lot of water flowing out from the range, Mcllwraith Range for example. Up the northern end of the West Coast has some beautiful clear coast lines though.
@Travelling_Jonoberries2 жыл бұрын
@@WildReaches agree, so you have the best of both worlds when foraging for food sources with the different tundras what a great variety. Also love that you include the indigenous way of life as we have a lot to learn and it is not since the days Major Les Hiddins and the way of the lands that have specific hidden Jen’s that are reinvigorated by your team. Many thanks as I am retired now and the Wild Reach adventures being great joy to many who cannot get these places. God bless, be safe and watch those bloody mozzies!! 😁🦋😇

Great episode....no need for the click bait title, you must have pretty good eyesight flying that drone within visual range at 3km! (Hmmm clear tropical days hey?) Couple of points (not trying to be a smart arse just FYI) * When you are jumping off your boat for a short walk you can deploy your electric trolling motor using the remote and spot/anchor lock rather than use anchor (well MinnKota’s have enough range and use hardly any power) * When you buy a DJI Drone consider paying a little extra for DJI Care replacement warranty (just got to be able to recover crashed drone to get replacement) * Mud Shell = Mud Mussel (Polymesoda coaxans) try sitting live clams/mussel in fresh bucket of seawater before cooking can help rinse mud out of animal.....same with freshwater yabbies - freshwater not salt) * Conical mangrove Welk/Gastropod = Longbum - covers 8 species in Northern Australia (2 most commonly consumed are smooth shell longbum = Telescopium telescopium, lesser longbum/rough shelled longbum = Terebralia palustoris) * Hibiscus tilleaceous also very good for friction fire making (fire plough, hand drill, fire saw methods) * Pomfret (pronounced Pom - fret) Black pomfret (Parastromateus niger) dark grey - silver diamond shaped fish, swims mid water and on its side (like a Halibut), commonly found in small schools circling channel marker buoys * Walking/storing rigged fishing rods - try running the fishing line around the reel base, then attach hook/lure up to first or second rod eye, this allows you to put more tension on line without bending rod Cheers

Have a look on youtube. Joan wulff here family run a famous fly fishing company. Also if you want straight leader steam it over a kettle. Lean to make. Butt equal to tippet, the next 3 equal to the butt. Get a nail knotting tool. Nail knot the butt to line. Then other end fold back. Next line come up through fold back and wrap around butt and then go back through the way you came. Now you can make leaders. Short long, floating, sinking etc.

@@WildReaches what do you mean you like to keep them like they are, by keeping it quiet. When you don’t even live in the FNQ. Do you think everyone would rush to go once you tell them. You need to get permission to get to most place in the Cape, so I don’t understand your point.
