One thing I'm still confused about: "chance of cracking" means "chance of turning grey" right? So if I had a 75% chance of cracking it would be advisable to go for the negatives / red ones. However if you have "75% chance of success" at the same time as "75 chance to crack" the chance to succeed overweighs, hence you go for the engravings.
@chewbaka7472 жыл бұрын
Just think about cracking as adding +1 debuff to your stone. You want a low chance of cracking the red and high chance succeeding on the blue.
@mague21692 жыл бұрын
@@chewbaka747 I think you misunderstood me, let me try to rephrase. I get the gist of faceting and how it plays out. I'm confused about the phrasing "chance of cracking". Does it determine the chance of the negative engravings going grey or red? Because "cracking" to me sounds like a miss, hence grey. So if that was the case, a 75% chance of cracking would be in your favor if you only consider the debuffs for a moment.
@ImaginarySpace2 жыл бұрын
@@mague2169 The idea is that when you have a high % you need to choose if you want to prioritize getting a good buff or getting a low de-buff. So % being higher when you click always increases the chance of the good thing for you happening. That's why you want one of your two buffs to be the sacrificial one where you click on low %. That row is the one you are fine taking a not-good outcome.

Nooo! Do not use high% on the red. Cracking refers to the stone itself. One Crack = +1 red/bad. So it's just different terminology for the same thing. Except you wouldn't call "succeeding" a +1 on a negative a success. Thus it's cracking

So why does it say in the tooltip "with a higher chance of cracking comes a higher chance the combat stat will DECREASE" then? Based of that i would assume the higher the chance of cracking the higher chance the stat will become grey, which would make sense, so you have to weigh, when you have eg 75% chance, between taking the high chance of improving blue or high chance of decreasing red (getting grey on red). I dont know man, but sounds like you all got it wrong. Pretty confusing.
@BrendanZanitCoen2 жыл бұрын
Nah he has it right. Think of it like do you want your ability stone to have a crack in it? No. The crack is what’s causing the negative effect. Too many deformities and you get a debuff. Eg. Grey is no crack. Red is a crack

I feel like you really missed the most important learning from this facet. The logic you explained, basically success rate and prio depending on that success rate is what I did from the very start without a guide. It's kind of self explanatory. However, there are more things here to learn then this which should have been the main point in this video besides the "basics". One mistake you made was that when you were at 55% success rate and identified that you had many slots left on the negative buff as compared to the positive ones, you then decided to pick the negative buff probably thinking that you want to hope for a higher success rate next time. BUT, even with 55% it's more likely to succeed then fail. So picking negative at this moment just increase your chance of successfully adding a negative buff point. Now you could think that this is ok, because you have so few "success" on negative buff. But that is not the point. The point is that when you got a "success" on a negative buff, activating one point, your success rate went from 55% to 45%. Hence, now you made it even harder to get a decent success rate for the positive buffs points you had left. Let's say that you had instead picked a positive one, but failed that one. The success rate would then have increased, so likely you could have gotten one of the two remaining positive buff points at least. I think it's a common mistake, going to the negative buff too easily/early. That can really turn the rest of the facet to a complete failure because success rate can drop so easily.

so is the stone useless if I dont get 5 nodes? this rng trrash btw i had 75 failed that 3 times on my good one.

it's not useless as such, but it's better to have more blue and fewer reds. I'll have to do an engraving guide to explain

Literally no explanation on the actual system mechanic like the nodes just made a vid to talk about general probability of numbers.

If i get 2 consecutive cracks on a stone I want, I just throw the whole stone I get tilted so easily 😂
