My mother was buried in Holy Souls Cemetery in Dec 1947, and since then, her entire family has been buried there. I remember when that was just a pretty country road with just a few houses.

Wow, thank you so much for making this. My grandmother told me that Campbell's Run Road was used as a "lover's lane" in the 1920s.

Wow, I never heard about that!

I learned how to drive on Campbells Run Road in 1961 in a 1956 Pontiac with a three-speed shifter on the column. In 1974, my daughter's first ice cream cone, just the cone, no ice cream, was purchased at Bishops Corner. Sgro's Restaurant was one of our favorites. Most of my mother's family is buried at Holy Souls Cemetery. Thanks for the memories, Tim!

Thank you for your videos! I just noticed in the 'comments' that a lot of folks (including me) suggests new road/locations for you to do more videos. If you honored all the requests, you would need a dozen life-times to make it happen.... It is a great compliment to you. These are great videos, and we just hope you keep making them!

Thanks so much for this video! My family has been on Campbell's Run since 1963, the year I was born. We're the last house in Carnegie. We lived through the 79 construction. All us neighborhood kids would set up lemonade stands and sell to the cement truck drivers and construction workers as they drove by at the end of the day. I remember the blasting, too. That was scary. I vaguely remember the old road. I still remember the first time we drove up the new hill. Lol! It was a major event for our family! We were amazed.

The 3 houses on the right side heading from carnegie.. Were moved .. They were originally on the left side on the old Cambells run rd. They are still owned by the Fleck family.

@@scottreed2100 You mean the first houses after you bear to the right at the stop sign? I wish I'da known that - I would have mentioned it! Thanks for putting it here.

King cousins lived on Campbell's Run in late 40s/early 50s. Just down the road from Tassey's dairy farm and the old airport. House had no indoor plumbing. A 'crick' in the back.

Love to see the old photos of roads that I've been on so many times. Maybe you could do a second part to Campbells Run Road for the area in Robinson. Many people I talk to didn't know the road by Settler's Ridge when it was just a two lane road with no hotels or shopping.

Should mention Bishop's (Ice Cream). My Dad would stop there with us in the early 60s. I think it was there before the Parkway West was built.

The old German Lutheran church mentioned, as you entered Campbells Run Rd. from Carnegie, is the church Honus Wagner attended.

Oh man, I wish I would have known that prior! Thanks for the info, though, Ron. Cool!

I wish you had found more information about the coal mining that went on along CRR. I recall from the Fifties that a tipple was located west of the old CRR turnoff on the north side of the road. Also there were several mine entries near Holy Souls Cemetery. I believe all of this mining was done as Moon Run Section 2.

You're right, Bob, that would have made a good addition. Coal played such a major part of the history of Robinson. I wonder if the Robinson Historical Society has any pics of those mines?

Tim, this is great! Enjoy these very much, especially when you do the Robinson Twp area (previously Montour Run Rd). Will you or can you post this on the Robinson Twp Historical society fb page?
@TimeTravelWithTim5 жыл бұрын
Hi Len! I did post it on the Robinson Historical Society page, but guest posts only go in the little box on the side and (I think) don't go out to all the members of the page unless an admin posts it in the main set of posts. If you want to you could click "SHARE" under the video and then copy the link and post it. Let me know. I still have to get all these Robinson pics (Montour Run, Clever, and Campbells Run Rd.) on a disk or thumb drive and get them to you guys. I'll include the videos.
