Lost Camping on Ilkley Moor

Ilkley Moor ... in Technicolour!
Ilkley Moor in Yorkshire is covered in Neolithic Artifacts like the Twelve Apostles Stone Circle and rock carvings.... I set out to find some of these features and possibly catch a glimpse of some of the paranormal activities that are renowned for occuring there... ended up getting hopelessly lost so didnt find many of the things I was looking for but Ilkley Moor is an experience in itself...
So I didnt find any UFOs or ghosts but I did find a Top Secret RAF base (run by the US Government ironically) that eavesdrops on all our communications... the vid says its Menhill but thats a typo.. SORRY!... it should be Menwithhill!
and I found the Twelve Apostles... Ilkley Moor's most famous Stone Circle...
So there are many recognized Neolithic artifacts on Ilkley Moor... however, Thornborough Henge in North Yorkshire is seriously under threat of being Quarried by Tarmac! If we don't do something soon Tarmac will dig up Britain's largest and oldest Neolithic monument that is still being used for ritual by today's modern pagans...

just been camping up their, just outside the stone circle, went into the circle for a midnight wander... very peacefull. :)

ah, the 12 apostles.... also known as the dancers. the stones are famed for moving position without any obvious signs of distress to the surrounding ground. haven't been up there last year, will definitely be heading up there this summer! my partner and I camped out up there a few years back and experienced some very weird stuff. lights in the sky, strange sounds reverberating around the hills, and at one point what sounded like a massive humming generator went over our tent. didn't see what made that noise, but was a crazy experience all the same. greetings from another Leeds stone circle appreciator!

Couldnt agree with you more about what you've said about thornborough henge. Its literally 5 mins walking distance from my house, and for one i dont want great big articulated lorries driving up and down those windy roads all day every day, but secondly there's an amazing festival tehre every year which will have to be stopped!!! Thornboroughfest!!!!!

I was the only one there, and I didn't make a fire, though it was tempting because it was freezing at night! Regardless of what statutes may be "in force", I believe common law states that I have the right. I did no harm and left nothing behind. In fact, I even cleaned up some of the crisp packets left by walkers ^_^

@introvertebrate For others tempted, just beware that Bradford Council owns Ilkley Moor and is strictly no fires and no camping (sadly). Common Law (and common sense) won't help you! The 12 Apostles bit is actually Burley Moor. That's worse cos it's owned by a group of solicitors who employ a gamekeeper who will make you drop camp and escort you off the moor even at midnight!

It's a good video and there are some wonderful shots, but I do wish that you had not put that music over it, blotting out the song of the moors wind.
