Lost Creek Angler 10 in Rough Weather / Huge Waves. Neah Bay Fishing

I drove out to Neah Bay and decided to fish despite the rough weather. I managed to get quite a few fish including: lingcod, cabezon, Red Irish Lord, Tiger Rockfish, China rockfish, Copper Rockfish, Canary Rockfish, Quillback Rockfish and Kelp Greenling.

Awesome vid! New subscriber. I just bought my first kayak. Lost creek angler 10 ft. Same as yours. I’ve heard there are good upgrade aftermarket steering controls and rudder. I think I made a good choice for my first kayak. It’s barely used and I picked it up for $800

Yeah I went back as soon as the weather looked okay but then it turned by the time I got out there. Doesn't look like I'll be back for a while though.

You should! They just had free fishing weekend on the 10/11. But otherwise its only $20/day or $60/year for a license.

It definitely would be with so little experience. If you do go make sure you have a radio so you can call for help. It's a lot worse out there on a kayak than a boat.

I thought the Tiger rockfish was cool looking never caught one my self. Didn't you catch one, you were in a skiff with a friend not to long ago? If I didn't wear my chest waders I'd be wet the hole time out fishing and I'm not even in a Kayak. There sure a bunch of rockfish out there, isn't there some that you have to throw back now out there? The rockfish in here where I fish most of them are loaded with eggs there huge the biggest was Maybe 12lb or bigger some of the biggest I'v ever seen was this year. You don't have to measure the lingcod out there, but how big was it and did you get two keeper lings? I liked the sea cucumber. Didn't you fix the steering once? Thank-you. My friend got the tiger rockfish that day. Out there you have to throw back yelloweye, vermillion, copper and quillback rockfish. No, I didn't get a second ling to keep but that one was 32". I actually reread the regs and you can keep 7 bottom fish besides your 2 lings or 9 total not 7 total as I though. But 7 is still lots of fish. The steering breaking is a recurring problem that I have to fix every couple months.

Thanks. It should stay on there all day at the end you can still feel it being slick. But I reapply every few drops for a trail.

I am not sure. I have a hard time judging time when I’m fishing. But as soon as you are in 30’ or deeper over rocks you get them right away.

My kayak pedal drive broke the last time I went out there. So I won't be going out there on a kayak again. Neah Bay is not the place to be learning.

Not learning to kayak fish. Just how to Rock fish/ bottom fish. I go in the surf regularly here in admiralty inlet (zone 9) for salmon. But rock fishing is not open here Neah bay is the closest place where it makes sense to go to try to take a limit. Zone 4 (Neah bay)vs zone 5 (port angels). Hope your pedal drive gets fixed soon. I’ve got a second feelfree dorado that I take in the surf as well if your interested. Or where I it that you go rock fishing in that area?

I think if you are going open water like this you need a real life vest. An inflatable in these conditions is questionable.

For most I would agree. But it really depends on a lot of things. Mostly your experience level, kayak stability, water temperature and how experienced you are in cold water and how strong of a swimmer you are.
