From Wikipedia: Post impact fires ensued in both engines, and from fuel leaking from the outboard right fuel tank. The fires were put out by the Airfield Fire Service (AFS) before they reached the fuselage. Of the twelve on board, six people were fatally injured, including both pilots. Four of the survivors suffered serious injuries whilst two received minor injuries and were described as walking wounded. A witness inside the airport terminal building stated that the fog was so thick that the crashed aircraft could not be seen. The airport fire service extinguished both post impact fires within ten minutes of the accident, and started to remove the casualties from the wreckage. The injured were taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment. You're welcome.

The pilots were under pressure to land, or not get paid, they were contractors working for a non existent company hired to fly a rented plane. The pilot made errors, but lack of maintenance caused the roll because the thrust of the engines was asymmetric. It was a disaster waiting to happen.

This happened to me. I was by myself on a flight to Atlanta and there was turbulence and a storm. I remember the clouds and fog was so heavy, and just seeing the tops of buildings poking out of the clouds. I thought "wow I didn't realize that the buildings are so tall" we were flying right above the clouds and fog and then we went in it and it was just white for like five minutes. I was so confused and we kept hitting turbulence. And then out of no where we just landed on the runway, with little visibility out of the windows. So glad that technology today and the knowledge or pilots have improved so much. I couldn't even see the wing and I was sitting right by it

I read up on this story. Apparently they clipped a flock of pterodactyls. This caused an imbalance in the plane’s flux capacitor causing the aircraft to shift 45 degrees in the 4th dimension. They crash landed and everyone survived. However, due to the thickness of the fog they could not be located. Several decades later the descendants of the original passengers left the fuselage in order to find a land with a more adequate food supply. They were discovered in a airport terminal wearing clothing fashioned from torn seat fabrics and carpeting. They were said to have the most ornate jewelry made from copper wires, stainless steel nuts, and bangles of aircraft grade aluminum.

I remember this, the captain put the throttle too far back, which resulted in one of the engines to in reverse thrust. In the turbo props there is no thrust, so the blades change angle and start pushing instead of pulling on the air. Caused an asymmetrical thrust vector (again, no thrust in props, but i forgot the technical term), indicated by the uncontrolled roll to the left as one side is flying forward and other is flying backwards.

Until the airport stopped all commercial flights to and from Belfast after this tragedy occured, I used to travel from there to Cork by plane all the time to visit my grandma and family who live down there. At the time it happened it unphased me as I was still just a kid but looking back it is utterly terrifying that it happened somewhere so familiar. My heart goes out to the victims and their families.
