Thanks for the video, one of my all-time favorite TV shows. I put all my L.I.S. Blu-ray discs in a CD holder for easy access so I don't destroy my original boxes. The Blu-ray quality is breathtaking! So happy with this set because it deserves all the bonus features. I just recently got the Outer Limits (season 1) on Blu-ray and that is worth getting as well.

Writing to you from Australia in 2020! Thank you for an excellent, honest review. I too do not understand the negative reviews, perhaps some people just like to find fault with everything. I have the original DVD box set and yes, the picture quality was horrendous and audio was, if anything, even worse. I recently purchased the Bluray versions from Amazon and holy cow, It is like watching a brand new, but retro Lost in space! The restoration/transfer to Bluray is remarkable, you can actually see what is written on the buttons on the robot & wires holding up the Jupiter 2! Love it... This series was so corny, as a 54yo child watching in 2020 it is hilariously ridiculous in parts, the microphone they use in the Jupiter 2 was also used as a Geiger counter at some point, the reactor unit used in the episode 'The Raft' was bigger than the Jupiter 2 itself, how did they get it out of the Juiter? Ha Ha... Crazy stuff. Absolutely love this classic series.

Glad you like it! I was sorry hear that Kevin Burns, who was largely responsible for the Blu-rays, died last week :(. I'm 62 so I actually remember the first season but I live in Canada and I don't think we got the last two seasons so it was thirty years before I saw them. I became a real LIS freak around 1999/2000. I'm sure that SOME people honestly had technical problems with the discs but there are often player related compatibility issues when you get a big set of new discs. I've experience it myself where a disc is problematic on one player but plays fine on another player. Enjoy the discs!

I have to second every word of this review. This is absolutely spot-on. Please if you're on the fence about buying the Blu ray set listen to what this man has to say and let it sink in. I've had the discs for almost 2 years now - Sept 2015 -and I've gotten more sheer pleasure from them than almost anything I've ever bought. I watch these eps projected in 1080p on a 100 foot screen and the picture quality makes me gasp. For example: When watching "The Reluctant Stowaway the other day, I found myself noticing and thinking about how all of the Alpha Control technicians and personnel almost all wore college rings. There is detail that you'd never ever see in any other medium, unless you were lucky enough to be in Irwin Allen's screening room in 1965.

The Bluerays are great. The DVDs were far worse than the VHS. I put my Bluerays in the jewel cases.

Kevin Burns stated that he had remastered a number of episodes of LIS for VHS release (I have a few of the tapes...the look very good). However, much to his surprise, the remasters weren't used for the DVDs. Apparently they used some old, 1980s transfers for the DVDs. Go figure.

I know this is an older video, but can anybody tell me, are there additional audio options for Spanish and French, like there was on the regular dvd version?

There are only subtitles for French and Spanish (plus English sub for the deaf/hard of hearing). I'm afraid there are no audio options other than English.

It is a fantastic restoration. Love it. I had one issue with a disk but it was my Blu-Ray player needed its software updated. After that everything worked fine. Tons and tons and tons of extras. Worth every penny.

Excellent review of the blu-ray set. I hope this gets more people to buy it....You are right, there is no excuse for a Lost in Space fan not to have this series on blu-ray in their collection...It's more important than collectibles, autographs, photos, conventions, etc.....thanks for doing this review.

Dex, so what do you get as far as content besides the great picture quality?

Lots and lots of stuff. Most notably, there are some optional alternate presentations of a number of episodes. Four of the episodes may be viewed with the original TV commercials and network bumpers. THE CONDEMNED OF SPACE may be viewed in widescreen with 5.1 surround sound (it's an option, you can watch the standard version if you prefer). There is an original cast table-reading of Bill Mumy's unproduced 1980 LIS script. There are cast commentaries on a few episodes (I forget how many). The 1973 cartoon is included. There are new cast interviews. There are a couple of documentaries. There's also the "standard" vintage stuff like some older cast interviews, the unaired "No place to Hide" pilot, original network pitch, an old interview with Irwin Allen and so on. The Limited Edition set includes character cards (small glossy photos of the cast), early robot blueprints and a small size reproduction of Bill Mumy's script from the first episode.

There are English SDH subititles for the deaf and hard of hearing. There are also Spanish and French subtitles. No Portuguese, I'm afraid.

HI my brother got this box set. i have some bad news he came over with it i could not watch it on my blu-ray player at all you got to have a blue-ray player that plays bd-re rom discs. i have a 100gb BD-RE blue-ray burner one of the very new computer and it would not play the discs. they are making box sets that will not play on computers the very big tv's use a lot of power my brother in law got a 65 inch plus

Bob, I'm always sorry when I hear that people are having a problem viewing these discs. However, I honestly don't understand the nature of your problem. These aren't BD-RE discs. When you say "they are making box sets that will not play on computers..." I'm lost. These are standard commercially pressed BDs that should play on anything. I would direct you to the current crop of amazon.com reviews which now numbers 287 reviews where it scores an average of 4.1 out of 5 stars. Playability issues are less than 10% of reviews. I truly regret that you are having a problem but, as this set has now been out for 2 years with a less than 10% complaint rate about playability, I don't think it's fair to say that "they are making box sets that will not play on computers" or that a BD-RE capable player is needed. I'm using a very old, very cheap Panasonic BD75 with a manufacturing date of January 2011 (almost 7 years old) and I've had no issues at all with these discs...I've watched every single one. I feel bad about your situation but it is not representative of the standard experience.
