i think with george's pov, you have the keep in mind that he's colour blind, and this isn't me trying to baby him over that, but colours to him dont stand out as clearly as to other people, a lot of colours (eg light blue and pink) can look grey to him, so the crosses that he saw probably didnt look like decor, and rather actual crosses that should be followed. other than some map flaws, i really liked this map, it was fun, and i think next time it gets played it will be a lot more fun for the participants

the saddest part with tommies case was that it basically lost him the game, as he was doing extremly well the whole time, but this one shot him back to fourth place. He tried to cheer his team on to try to get to the finals, but it was futile and altough it was a lotta fun, it really was dissapointing :(

I think a few people actually executed the elytra section correctly. Most of these people turned out to be the ones TRAILING BEHIND before that section(like 25th - 40th place). The reason being their teammates that were ahead informed them about the misleading arrows. One example is Shelby. She was told by Quig and Eret and successfully made it across. Now there were some like Dave Krtzyy, who was mind-blowingly decisive. He also misunderstood the arrows, however, he quickly realized that he was heading towards a familiar section so he glanced around for a second without triggering an unwanted checkpoint, then decided to dive straight into the void, which brought him back to his current checkpoint. It was really interesting how teams executed this unexpected situation.

Honestly, I love the new map, it was just annoying that some easy design flaws ruined the whole game for some contestants. I was live watching Phil's perspective, and it looked so unclear where to go, also from a viewer perspective. If Noxcrew kept some consistency in the map, they would have made some rings to go through, which would have easily directed them towards the finish. Still big love for Noxcrew, they will definitely figure this out and make it better.

George’s and Tommy’s were so heartbreaking to watch. They got the worst of the spectrum in this situation, both for similar reasons, but in different situations. At this point George and their whole team was really tense from doing bad in all the other games. And this just added to it, I don’t think the team was having that much fun anymore, I don’t even know if they were having any fun at all to be honest with you, like how Seapeekay said, in the heat of the moment you aren’t thinking straight so that’s what affected both the people. And it had a similar affect on Tommy but in a different way as they were first at this point in time doing much better than green guardians in placing, and this would have caused Tommy to be incredibly devastated as that confusing map lost his team the whole game pretty much. You can see how sad he was after this happened, and I don’t think he was as motivated or having as much fun either. What really impressed me though, is how he kept his cool and carried on making sure everyone else was doing okay. For example, when Tubbo starts losing his spirit and Tommy tries to keep it up even if what happened ruined his spirit, and his constant support and checking up on Niki. They really didn’t deserve this, as their team was doing incredibly well, and Tommy was being so helpful and supportive to the team while George didn’t need to be in a worse situation George and Tommy definitely didn’t deserve this especially. The map seriously needs a rework, however no doubt that the mcc staff will fix it, they do really well making the event and such.

If you can’t make Super checkpoints, it is imperative that it is impossible for the player to travel back to a previous checkpoint unintentionally.

Absolutely. And if you wanna make maps seem more open then use barrier blocks to block off past checkpoints and sections of the map from each other that way there's no way of messing it up unless you god straight backwards

I like the suggestion of the diagonal arrow. When i was watching Philza, he almost flies into the left pointing arrows, and that's all he sees. So he naturally makes a sharp left turn. If those arrows pointed down, it probably wouldn't have been an issue. I think overall, the organizers should try their best not to confuse people. It takes a bit of the skill piece out of the competition when everyone's just confused, which also happened on the wool stage in TGTTOSAWAF, where they had to use sheers to get through those walls, but they also included snowballs, which i can only guess was an attempt to misdirect. And only one person got it right the first time, but we're not allowed to talk about that. Overall, when competitors are confused and upset, it takes the fun out of the competition. Give them as much info up front as possible

Tommy and George's POV were both really heartbreaking, they both went from top 10 to last 10. They should have opaque backing walls on the freestanding arrows. I was watching Phil live and when he turns left on that infamous elytra bit he dials in on the arrows that would be in the eyeline at that angle, which are those arrows near where everyone met their doom. The down arrows seem so much farther down and I hadn't noticed that some of the asteroids kinda get in the way at some angles. The down arrows for that last elytra bit need to be moved up and/or forward. Frankly though it is a bit of a moot point since no one will ever have a blind run of this course now.

My main problem with this map is that it allowed people to go from second to last by making perfectly understandable mistakes. I wouldn’t mind everything else if they just fix THAT specifically. The super checkpoints should definitely be implemented, and maybe some other way of noting which ways to Not go? Because iirc the next mcc (pride mcc) is going to have a lot of new players, so they can guinea pig new changes maybe

as well as being diagonal, i think it wouldve helped if the arrows were on a blue background, so they stood out from the rocks more. also having a clearer boundary by the other part, perhaps making the wall by the arrows cover more, and putting more space rocks on that side of the tridenty/ running bit to obscure it. its still an amazing map. looks super fun to play on, just there's always ways to improve, right.

On a rewatch of that, yeah Tommy’s perspective was crushing lol. I always, always have watched his pov, I find it very fun, and it was my first ever MCC I saw live. So I was all in, I could see him and the team doing well and in good spirits, but that crushing moment you showed when he lost his place and then the confusion everyone had after was awful in the moment. Dream SMP fans are definitely passionate if nothing else, lol. I think a lot of that also has to do everyone's personalities and teams though. Grian was on a MUCH calmer, less reactive team and is just a much calmer person overall from what I've seen. I'm sure it stung just as much, he just didn't show it the way the others did.

Scott didn’t accept the criticism at all he just blew it off. Stating ‘it’s only a game’ people are competitive, it was a new map, no one should have had an advantage or everyone should have been able to practise the map. For such a fun event, that was rather unsportsmanlike on scott’s part and really did kind of ruin it for me when I was watching this live.

I also don't like how all the routes you've already been through is completely exposed, you never encounter that for the last two Ace Race maps, it's just one straightforward route, but for this Space Race map, all the roads intersect with one another, like wtf there's so much space outside the map

Yeah I get they had a theme but there needed to be more barriers between sections. Hell the biggest mistake where everyone went the same way Phil did could have been easily avoided by just adding a giant rock. Just one big rock between the two sections and people would have figured it out before returning to a past checkpoint

I was watching Skeppys perspective, and hadn't realized something went wrong because he was one of the few to actually go through the certain part everyone got confused on. Later on I found out not everyone got it, which made sense to me as I (the viewer) didn't get how Skeppy got through either. It was also confusing from viewer standpoint, but I know it wasn't intentional. Next time things will be fixed and hopefully the confusion doesn't happen again :')

Tbh the arrows don’t seem tooo bad it jus that there are so many and it so cluttered. Like the arrows on the sides on the walls at the start kinda seem like decoration and don’t really help much so I feel like that conditions the players to ignore a lot of those white arrows I think he wall as being decorative when the actually needed arrows come along. Seeing previous parts of the map made a lot of players think they were meant to loop back around

The fact that there was not one, not two, but three separate places where people went astray really should lend credence to the claim that this map design sucks. People shouldnt need arrows for a game like this. You wouldnt expect them on a mariocart track, you would assume that going forward would be obvious. And everyone slammed into the glass, and a lot of people missed that hoop, but those didnt reset your checkpoints which was the real issue that lead to the clusterfuck and so many people ending up placing way outside of where they should have.

Y'know watching this again made me realize about something more about George's POV. George has aphantasia. Meaning he really cannot visualize an image, a scene. So cpk saying George doesn't remember of him going through that X made a lot more sense now. For people who have aphantasia, memory calling to them is actually just made up of a listing of facts so... aphantasia is honestly just bad at remembering...

the ace race was soo fun tho! except the arrows and that can be fixed so it’s no problem. I hate to see people hate the whole entire event just based on the ace race or the little glitches. I’m sure it’s really exhausting* to do this event and get the people. They work overall really hard to provide you guys with the content and on top off that ITS FREE! Please don’t hate or complain, if you are gonna criticize- criticize in a respectful way. looking forward to the next MCCs :)

I totally agree. The MCCs usually work out almost flawlessly and ultimately are played for fun. Mistakes were acknowledged by the people responsible and you can see that everyone who works on MCC wants to make everything as good as possible. Waaayyyyy better than the shitshow that Minecraft Monday has often been.
