46:46 - For those who don't know why just a set of shoes in front of the tracks is so horrific, it *may* be a reference to the odd phenomenon in Japanese culture known as the 'barefoot su!c!de'. Essentially, in Japanese culture, before taking their own life, a person takes off their own shoes. I'm unsure of why this happens myself, but.. it could be a reference to it. I may be incorrect. Just thought that was an interesting touch.

I believe the ribbon on the shoe- the yellow ribbon- is meant to commemorate suicide victims (like how a pink ribbon is for Breast Cancer victims).

in japan, its a custom to remove your shoes before entering a home or most buildings. i could take two separate guesses but neither of them may be correct. 1, it could be that they believe that wherever they go after death could be a building of some sort. or maybe they think taking shoes off before walking around as a spirit makes more sense, because they could enter buildings. not sure if "ghosts" can remove their shoes? and 2, it could be some sort of thing that happens in funerals. maybe theres a practice of removing shoes of the deceased before theyre buried. im unsure

@@bannnz I seem to recall that some native American tribes believed that your soul had to travel through the soles of your feet into the earth to leave your body, and that removing the soles of a dead person's feet would trap their souls. Certainly unrelated but an interesting parallel

Lots of indie horror out there, but this is definitely one of the best in the fps genre. Don't forget the secret midnight mode! Clear inspirations were Silent Hill, Condemned, Cry of Fear/Afraid of Monsters; and of course the save rooms lifted straight from Castlevania. I loved every second of this one; truly we live in the golden age of horror. As a sidenote, Condemned (the first one!) has been one of my all-time favorites since release. As someone into urbex since the late 90s, I _swear_ that game took direct inspiration from some places I've been.

It's been a while, so maybe someone has mentioned this; The ribbon on the shoes is yellow, and can stand for s**cide awareness. It can also stand for missing persons/children or the disappeared. Really excited to hear that you're interested in playing some smaller game jam horror games. Not sure if you planed on doing random individual games or maybe going sequentially through collections, but game #12 of 20 called *Avert Your Eyes* from the Haunted PS1 C.H.A.I.N. collection by Papercookies is phenomenal (free on itch). It's hard to describe and I don't want to over-hype but.. the sound, the vibe, the ending.. it's really an experience. And for a smaller stand alone game 'The Devil' (also free on itch), builds a DEEP atmosphere with the visuals and dialogue. I can see you specifically having great commentary and enjoying the experience as there's some liminal-esque areas and I just really feel like you'd enjoy the more matured use of tension building not relying on jump scares. Anyway, love the content you're putting out. Really glad to see your channel popping off!

Instead of normal Lost in Vivo it will instead boot up "Midnight" for PS1, a dark medieval hack & slash horror fps. Yes, as in the same "Midnight" that's sneakily referenced in the main LiV game. It's a fun little in-universe easter egg that's short (demo length), but actually is a fully realized retro psx game with it's own menu, maps, weapons, enemies, etc. I found it challenging too, not being used to melee sword combat... *Since it goes by system time, you can play "Midnight" whenever by just changing your clock to 12:00am.

If you want a good series of horror games where the way you play the game effects the ending you get, Metro is a great survival horror shooter game franchise set in Post Apocalyptic Russia, based off of the novels of the same name. There are some truly horrifying moments in those games, especially in 2033 and Exodus, and the endings that you get in those games are determined by your actions, how many enemies you spare or kill, and the decisions you make.
