When you think about it, Lost Judgment mimics some story beats from Yakuza 4. Looking at both games, the main antagonists are high positioned officers of the law (Seishiro Munakata in Yakuza 4 and Hidemi Bando in Lost Judgement). They send in an undercover officer to infiltrate the Yakuza (Hiroaki Arai in Yakuza 4 and Kazuki Soma in Lost Judgement) as a means to watch over and eventually control them. In the end, their main objective boils down to a conspiracy to attain a large amount of money to further their own undesirable means. I think the biggest difference I can give between Arai and Soma is that Arai felt disgusted with following Munakata's orders and doing his dirty work while Soma revels in listening to Bando and enjoys it.

Soma is such a good “hateable” villain. I literally wanted to punch him every single time he appeared on screen and I’m VERY happy he got what he deserved. Probably one of my favorite villains of all time, and Matt Yang King absolutely KILLED IT in the English dub.
