I wasnt brought to Yakuza games until I played Like A Dragon, and I have to say as a big JRPG fan, that decision by SEGA really helped me gain interest in that series. Considering the success of Like A Dragon it appears the main Yakuza titles may now be more like a turn based system. Its good to see that these Judgement games are hitting the right chords and the action style is living on. That said I have still yet to try Judgement and this title and its good to see that these really seem to hold up well. This was a really fun review! I like your style and will be back for more! The Robotics club mini game was a pain But mannnnnn I was invested in the School Side Stories and the overall "Professor" mystery Xanthe Hyunh did a fantastic job as Amasawa and Cassandra Lee Morris was a welcome addition as Itokura Hopefully an aspect like the school side stories (or a more extensive side arc/plot) can return in a future Judgment game

This is also my game of the year I got the platinum and loved every moment (except for the go missions) still think it's slightly weaker than 7 though also what are your thoughts on the main villain I think they did a really good job at a morally grey villain my friend and I had a debate on if he was sympathetic or not when we finished the game

While he obviously went too far I think he was a good villain and created a really interesting talking point about the power/ability of the law to hold people accountable for their actions.

Great vid. I don't get all the hate for robotics club though. I had a lot of fun with it, and it was mad easy, the biker gang on the other hand was a mess for me. I still need to load it back up and try not to get my shit kicked in by Amon again.

I found Robotics easy at first and didn't get the hate then, but as soon as I hit the first map with holes in the center of it it absolutely fell apart. Glad to hear it worked for you though. The bike races was annoying trying to hit guys but I don't think I lost more than 1 match. The most annoying thing is just the rubber banding.

With all in the RGG Studio. We might see something new coming to these games. RGG confirmed that Yakuza 8 I will be set several years after 7, and that Judgment and a new secret game are in the planning stages. So it might take a while. And to be honest, the Dragon Engine makes me feel nostalgic for the PS2 visuals lol

I read about all this recently but RGG was very wishy-washy with judgment. It didn't sound to me like they had a new one in the works. As they announced the new games they said "We will cherish the judgment series." I suppose that can be read into in a lot of ways but it sounds like something you'd say when you say goodbye haha.

What do you think about how the recent games have handled dlc?

I don't like that there's always a reminder that you can buy it when you bring up the cellphone but at least it blends in there (Unlike how Tales of Arise done it.) As per the contents of the DLC... Given the game already has a completionist time of over 90 hours I really don't feel I wasn't given a full package here, and god knows if they included it in the base-package they would have made it essential for finishing the school stories quest lines and I would have hated how that quest was handled even more haha. I'm more or less fine with the DLC considering what we have.

@@TarksGauntlet the one that kinda pisses me off is the boxing style. That should’ve been a reward for completing the boxing mini game or something. Like 0 did with its 4th styles

@@shizuwolf If it plays just like the boxing did in the Boxing minigame I'd be fine without it but yeah, does seem kind of lame to make it DLC, especially where I can't imagine it actually working too effectively outside of the arenas it was designed for. I'd hate to spend money on it just to find out it's not even worth using.

Yeah, the Robotics, eSports, Photography, and Gambling clubs were the weakest of the school stories. My personal favorites are of course, the dancing, boxing and controversially, I do enjoy the motorcycle races. The Girls' Bar was also rather above average, but not really something I'd go over the moon for.

In regards to the age difference between combatants, the real world is not a boxing match thats divided into weight/size classes. Real fights dont care about that or any semblance of whats "socially acceptable."

GTA used to be extremely controversial, but I do think the big difference between this and GTA is that GTA doesn't try to sell its main characters as good or moral people haha. Quite the opposite. But yes, I do agree. It's a tedious conversation at the best of times.

I wouldn't recommend playing Lost Judgement without playing Judges Eyes first. You'd be missing out on a good story and Yagamis past. Its not like Yakuza 7 where its completely self contained, though again, Id play the other ones before it. Now I would like to discuss the main game more but itd be spoilers. Id just like to mention the games story of bullying is pretty accurate. Its not taken seriously until someone does something drastic like suicide or murder. I love the Fixer's crusade of never ending justice in constrast to Yagami's belief of believing in the law; personally, I think the Fixers philosophy is more realistic. I completely agree on the minigames. The more the better. I hate the Robotic clubs game cause its so unfair, and I stopped the Professor side story because of it. The tracker equipment sucks too, it points you in the direction of an item but doesn't account for depth. Theres a side story of tracking spyware in the school, and you have to guess which floor its on, so annoying. The music and combat are great. My favorite Yakuza game other than 7.

I'd argue Yakluza 7 is less self contained tbh. A lot of characters with "High power levels and a lot of influence" in that game that you simply won't understand knowing nothing about the series and they'd come off like more of a deus ex machina than anything. Lost Judgment doesn't require you understand anything about the universe beforehand, but as I said, I'd still recommend playing the first simply because it's good and the second haphazardly and often pointlessly spoils story events of the first.

@@TarksGauntlet well A sequel spoiling what happened in the prequel doesnt seem like an issue. The AD9 stuff isnt really bought up again except for explaining what happened with the previous health ministry's director. From the perspective of Ichiban, encountering these higher influences feels like meeting legendary yakuza members.

@@jinchuriki7022 I agree spoiling things in a sequel isn't an issue, but they're also things that are entirely irrelevant to the plot of lost judgment. There's no plot points carried over from the first game or characters you'll lack an understanding of in lost judgment if you never played the first. While ichibans perspective is of course worthy of note when meeting certain characters in 7, what those characters are capable of I think warrants more explanation for new players than what is given. Further, it kind of spoils a bit of how the entire arc before it closes. Given these characters drive the plot in certain areas I really don't think it's quite as self contained, but it's honestly splitting hairs.

@@TarksGauntlet that makes sense. The whole Yakuza disbanding is a buildup of everything since Yakuza 0. Lost judgement is more self contained being every case is brand new. I wish the side characters were more important but they boil down to grunt sidekicks. I have doubt that the Kaito dlc will be worth it, unless we get a new fighting style plus a story rivaling what we already have. I also think Yagamis former coworkers should play a larger part too.

@@jinchuriki7022 I did wish we seen more of Genda law firm. I love Saori so much. I guess there would have always been the chance for more time with them in later games but it seems Judgment as a series is likely ending here.
