I originally had 5 pieces in mind for each volume, but this video became way longer than I thought so I trimmed it to 3. Let me know what you think. I'm hoping to get two videos out next month, so stay tuned!

Go For A Punch should be used as a case study as to how a multitude of half-forgotten memories, assumptions, misattributions and deliberate fakery can ‘create’ something that is supposedly lost, but never existed to begin with - the story behind this whole thing is quite fascinating.

@@stoic7974 You be surprised how many people remember Pikachu with a black tip on his tail when in the games and anime they never had that detail. I remember in my childhood that Krillin from Dragon Ball Z (Back when Toonami was airing the anime) when Frieza killed him. His whole body exploded but the only part of his body that lives was his head and when Gohan catches Krillin's decapitated head in shock and fear. Goku got so pissed off that he turned SSJ for the first time. Even some anime KZbinr said he remembered that in the uncut version from Japan like it actually happened. Same when in the Japanese version when semi-perfect Cell blinded 18 before he can absorb her? He rips off her clothes right down to her bare naked bottom and her wearing no shoes and ate her to make the fear even more fucked up. And this happened when she was behind a mountain wall so there was no way she would escape. But? The weird thing about both those scenes? They never existed in our lifetime. Or if they did. Did we all misremember it at the same time? Japan when it was airing DBZ back in the 80s. It was airing at midnight at the time so there was no way kids even back in Japan would watch it that late. So yes, while they did get darker as it was airing at midnight. There is no proof that both of these scenes exist. But weirdly enough I did see the video of Cell ripping off 18's clothing and it almost looked like it came from the show and not like some hentai parody that was made as a cheap joke. So who knows? (Before you ask? It was on Dailymotion but not sure if that got removed or not. So I can't say I have it as back then? I didn't know about downloading videos online so oops!)

The cool thing about the Saki Sanobashi situation is that if this anime isn't real, then the fact that they're "remaking" it won't cause any legal problems since apparently no one owns it!
@MouseSkull

And if it did somehow end up being real and it would cause a lawsuit from the creator, they would have to reveal themselves and the anime would be found. Win-win scenario!
@777MasterHero

What's even better is that theoretically, if someone claiming to be the creator did come forward taking legal action, then they would be required to produce the original OVA as evidence proving that they made it, thus confirming that it does exist. Either way, we get a version of the anime.

For a minute there, it sparked my interest. Aside from that, the plot or setting itself is just seems 'too far out there', even for an anime. What I find interesting is that the whole concept or idea behind it -- being of victim of circumstance and being devoid of all hope -- is rather unique. For something that was meant to be creepypasta / horror story could some day be the subject of a fan-fiction project. www.reddit.com/r/SakiSanobashi/comments/fl4p7w/ik_this_subreddit_is_dead_but_heres_a_little/

There’s really no need to remake Saki Sanobashi ( in this case... make?) the most similar thing I can remember is Euphoria, but that hentai is so much worse. Literally something that can make you cry to sleep, extremely disgusting and creepy. What is Euphoria? Basically SAW but with fecal matter, rape, torture, murder. Reality is most of the times far worse.

What interests me more about it than the storyline (which sounds kind of cliche imo) is how vaguely op described certain aspects of it. @@oranplan1630 Yeah. When it comes to a humans curiosity it can be deadly. The fact that something could be described as it was made it easy to imagine in your head. It made it seem almost as if you remembered it from somewhere but couldn't quite grasp it. Kind of like when you go down some stairs and smell something and it reminds you of something. Or when you enter a room and it just hits you that you remember this place from somewhere that wasn't in your house. Everything that was described was easy to imagine because peoples brains are great at making images fake or real. Making it so that it seems extremely real piqued peoples interest and caused the search.

"Who are these hoarders? Why did the keep the dub away from the public for so long?" That's an easy question to answer. They kept it hidden away because the allure of owning the singular copy of something rare is like doing a line of cocaine for hoarders. That, and some hoarders just like to keep things to themselves and only themselves, hence why they're called hoarders.

"Why would he keep a random image for nearly 5 years?" That is, honestly, a dumb point to make. I have random files on my laptop, some of which I have no idea where they came from, that are much older than that. And I have switched computers like four times in the past five years. I just migrate all my files from one to the next, and think nothing of it. I even found files from 2011 when looking through my Dropbox. Granted, them being on the cloud makes it easier to keep them for a long time without losing them. My point is, though, that I simply have never bothered to get rid of them. Also I like keeping stuff for as long as I can, however insignificant they may be. Some people are just like that.

Another reason why Saki Sanobashi sounds so real is because, this isn't the first time something like this has been brought up, and those other times, the anime did actually get found! However, those other times, there was more solid evidence to their existence than some 6 year old 4chan post. The thing about Saki is that, from the way it was described, it was most definitely a guro anime. During the 80s, there were a lot of low budget guro anime being made by small studios, and a lot of them were released as "rental only" VHS tapes, so they never aired on TV and were never sold to the public. On top of that, new laws started getting passed around in Japan which resulted in a lot of these old guros being banned. What I'm trying to get to at here is that it's not completely impossible for an anime like Saki to exist... because they do exist! A lot of them in fact! There could be hundreds of guro anime from the 80s out there that are lost to time! Knowing all of this, it's easy to see why Saki fulfilled the imaginations of so anime fans around the internet.

The camerahead creepypasta reminds me of the gang "Camheds" from the game Manhunt that were cut out before the final release of the game. They were humans with giant cameras for heads that were though to record either the main character or themselves killing people. They were cut out of the game due to them not being too realistic for the game, seeming too much like aliens or robots.

Saki Sanobashi is a strange one, it DEFINITELY reeks of "Lost Episode Creepypasta" in it's nature, yet at the same time it has a lot in common with That Evil Farming Game in the fact that it's something with an element of familiarity to it that makes people morbidly curious as to whether it exists or not. People thought Cracks was fake until it was found, and the same goes for Clock Man, and even if OP claims he made it up, there is always going to be that one person that believes it exists.

I think it hits that particular part of the brain which first saw out-of-context clips from horror movies as a kid. It has a weird, surreal, dread-filled vibe that touches on primal fears (suicide, claustrophobia). I actually think the premise, in itself, is pretty damn horrifying.
@ren858
@ren858 4 жыл бұрын
there is a chance that it exists, but it's pretty small like the person claiming to be OP and saying it was fake provided the images he had in his original posts about saki, so that's a pretty big chance that it was in fact him (also i'm just assuming the op is a boy) but then again the images don't really prove much. although even if that is an imposter and was lying about being op, we still don't know if the actual op is telling the truth, so very slim chance that it exists, but still a chance, i really hope it turns out like clockman/cracks but idk

Nothing on the story adds up tho. No animation studio did it. At the time the only other option would be animation clubs and circles. If so, it wouldn't be a full feature. And specially, it wouldn't be something fansubbed. Guro anime is something REALLY rare. Like, REALLY REALLY REALLY rare. There's only a handful of examples and mostly are recent ones, and they are EXCLUSIVELY adaptations. Anyone with the bare minimum knowledge about animation circles know that it's a fake anime

Maybe the story isn't just based on fiction but is based on true events but instead of creatures that are Camera Heads, it's actually half human half robot style hybrids that replace a human head with a camera to test if something like that can be controlled. I recently found a short that I’d been looking for for literally YEARS! I remembered it as some sort of weird puppet short where this gross guy was eating beans while the narrator called him a slob. There were cups surrounding him for some reason and he was sitting on a chair in the middle of the room.The part that really scared me though, was the ending. The puppet just looked at the camera and exploded. It really freaked me out as a kid and has stuck with me all these years. Recently, I decided to post the story on the lost media wiki after one of your videos. And it turns out it was a short from crash box called “revolting slob”! There are three different pieces of lost media I have been trying to find for years, most dating back to around 2009, (the Kinect game I talk about around 2010-2011). The first thing I discuss (the Kinect game), is interesting but not as much my focus as the third and second things on my list. Okay here we go. There was this Kinect game. I remember my mom and I used to play it. You were in this big indoor water park and you got to select the slide you wanted to go on. Then you'd use a raft and motion to slide down the attractions. (This wasn't Kinect Adventures. This was something else completely). As well, my mom has memories of this existing and the both of us playing it. If I could find out what the heck it was, anything close to it, that'd end the mystery. Maybe even more so, a lost Alvin and The Chipmunks anniversary music CD / DVD ( it could've been a compact disc). This is freaky. As a kid I had this DVD that detailed the origins of Alvin and the gang, and the history of the chipmunks. It claimed Alvin was based off a paper mache chipmunk abandoned from a parade in the 1900s, that miners dug up. My dad vividly remembers this, me being scared by it, and too him being unsettled by it, so he ripped it up and threw it away. After years of looking online, I've came up blank, Alvin only being traced to the song the witch doctor. Third, finally, an episode of Speed Racer. There was a big Latino / Hispanic / Mexican robot that Speed Racer and the others were looking into. It was laying on a metal bed like at the doctor or vet, and had an early text to speech kind of voice. I never watched that DVD again, and it too was lost with time. If you could comment, I greatly appreciate it, it would make the search easier. Perhaps some of you faintly remember or recall some of these things or will be of help to find them or one of them.

I second what they said about the Alvin and the Chimpmunks one. Have you tried to contact fans of the franchise? Many people into this sort of community often are familiar with obscure trivia. Also, it would be useful if you provided more info like what year it happened, where you were during that time etc. In fact, every single detail that comes in mind when you remember it, despite of how vague it is. That said, I hope this is not a hoax.

@@monad4248 Commented this a year ago just found it now, nice to see some activity with the comment even as recently as two weeks ago. I guess I’ll really get into the Alvin & The Chipmunks one since that is the one that seems to be cared about the most. This had to be around 2008 because it was an anniversary collection for the 50th anniversary of Alvin & The Chipmunks given they turned 50 then 1958-2008, so around 2008-2009. The casing of the DVD was red, there is this Christmas Collection of DVDs made by Rankin Bass like Frosty, Rudolph, etc. that all come as a bundle, and I would say that the Alvin and The Chipmunks case and DVD resembled that with phamplets included, both products released in the mid to late 2000s. The very photo with the story regarding Coal Miners is somewhat similar to the tint and way the creepy white rabbit costume from Disneyland was in the 1950s-1960s, except it was three men with hard hats on underground holding up this abandoned deteriorating paper mache chipmunk with paint and it had a caption to the side of it that read “in the early 1900s 1900-1910 there was a group of coal miners or miners that found this chipmunk and brought it to ground to examine it and it inspired Alvin and The Chipmunks.” I have no idea really the company that produced this as much as I’d like to know, given I got rid of this stuff 12-13 years ago, but it had to be liscened out by Bagdasarian Productions or some group associated with them as those are the people that made Alvin and The Chipmunks, unless for some really really weird reason I got a mass produced bootleg group of DVDs and stories.

You're either too young or just aren't aware of how tape trading used to work in the late 80's/early 90's. There are people out there who had (possibly still have) thousands of vhs tapes full of (at the time) extremely rare anime, television shows, concert performances, and so on. That's how things got around back then. You traded lists of what you had, and would copy tapes to trade with people in the mail. I guarantee that's why guy still had a vhs with that Dragonball dub just hanging out in his basement.

The real reason why the "Go for a punch" story is so credible is because there are animations like that. Just horror and gore without a good story. My brother and I are huge anime fans, especially the stuff in the mid 90's and before that time. The place we used to rent anime VHS's had some pretty obscure stuff in it. We never watched their whole library or anything but that's the kind of vibe Go for a Punch gives me. A lot of the VHS's were bootleg imports and were not official releases. Most weren't even given an age rating. One time my bro rented out "Those who Hunt Elves" and it was called something completely different on the case(not sure what it was called on the box, it was that long ago lol). Anyways, that's my take of that. Maybe it exists, maybe it doesn't. The bloodiest anime I saw from that era was Mermaid Scar. It's from the Mermaid Saga series.

So the recordings of the Harmony Gold dub were kept privately by hoarders all this time? This truly reminds me of the whole Japanese Broadcast Audio case, which was also recently closed after an anonymous upload of the original broadcast audio of all 153 Dragon Ball episodes. And Kei17 was also involved in it, as he supposedly shared brief clips of DBZ recordings online but he and others were apparently stubborn in releasing the full episodes for quite a while.

To add proper context to this: Toei animation is notoriously short-sighted They wiped the master Audio tapes for every single episode, leaving only the optical track on the Broadcast cuts to be sent to TV networks, which degrades MUCH faster (if you’ve ever watched the US DVD releases in japanese, you can tell) Someone in japan, however, managed to record every single episode of the series on VHS, a magnetic format that when properly stored lasts much longer, and fans on Kanzenshuu have been piecing it together with the Dragon Box footage Supposedly they were even in contact with Christopher Sabat (DBZ’s dub director and voice of Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamcha, etc at Funimation) to get the audio used in an official release, but idk if that’s gone anywhere.

Looking back, Saki seems to have a lot of similarities with the game Corpse Party 9 girls - 9 main characters Trapped in a bathroom - trapped in a school Suicide in a bathroom - suicide/murder in a bathroom Characters go crazy - the darkness mechanic Maybe either the op had a dream à la the evil farming game of watching Saki after playing/ watching the anime, or they made a creepypasta which took inspiration from Corpse Party.

The "lost anime" sounds a lot like an anime version of the "Saw" franchise. So much so I have to agree, I don't think it is real. I do think it would make a good movie or series though, anime or otherwise. The Dragonball thing was interesting, I did find it odd that there could have been brought to the US earlier than I knew it was, I thought there was a dub prior to Funimation's and maybe have been done in the 80's or early 90's. Great start to this series BlameitonJorge! I can't wait for the next one!

Things stabilized around 2013 but before that about a dozen 4chan post archival sites and 4chan related wikis were lost. Now as far as Cameraheads are concerned, I remember it becoming a creepypasta during that time because so many of those sites were gone. It might have been an older, obscure creepypasta that was genuinely lost, but, from what I experienced and remember from that time, it was just a creepypasta someone tried to push since the archival sites and most of the wikis were gone so it couldn't be disproven.

I have a few ideas on the reason for these “hoarders” during the dragon ball dub search. One is that these tapes would be very rare and whoever has them may certainly be waiting for an opportunity to sell them. The more infamy the search brings and the higher demand to discover these lost tapes, the higher a price people will pay to claim it. However, another reason may be the exact opposite, as whoever owns it might find pleasure in the acknowledgement that they are the only/very few that own a rare item and would either keep it concealed from those looking for it, or use it as a means of gaining fame and popularity. The latter would most likely just boast of it’s existance and their ownership of it, and would tease those looking for the same. Sort of like that game of the presidents cat, where a guy who owned the game sold it for a high price, but not before teasing people by uploading a very low quality video of gameplay of the game.

People will hoard anything. I was heavily involved in a community that would try to make "best available edits" or find lost, unreleased, or rare wrestling theme songs. Hoarding was a HUGE problem in that community, too.

I remember watching these in New York the air time was 0500 hours. It was hard as kid to wake up that early on a Saturday sneak out of bed and watch cartoons before sneaking back into bed and waiting till later because there was little else on tv.

I remember when an old aquaintance of mine sent me a video of another obscure Harmony Gold dub, Dr. Slump. It was the first episode and I remember not finding it anywhere else really, but not in any of the lost media wikis so I figured it was still considered found or was never even lost. KZbin of course took it down for copyright reasons so I think I uploaded it to the internet archive just in case, since it was obviously at least rare footage. If I didn't it's still on my PC so I still can, but the Dragon Ball segment reminded me of the time I helped take part in archiving and preserving rare footage.

The quality on this video is amazing, there are only a few youtubers that can take their time on videos, people will wait months for your videos. Keep up the great work
