While piracy isn’t a perfect solution, it’s the best we can do for now. It also allows the creators, in a way, to hace it on their demo reels.

It still upsets me how studios never fucking learned at all after all these years. In response to that one idiotic comment saying the e-shop going down is a good thing. Why should people be forced to go one route? Look I prefer physical game and film media, but I fully believe that people should have the option for both physical and digital. Also, fuck Warner.
@harrylane42 жыл бұрын
Oh, they learned. They’re entirely aware of all of this. But there are legal loopholes and reasons that this is more profitable than keeping the media up.

@lookingatyou3c5112 жыл бұрын
This is scratching the surface about how artist and people who create art are screwed over by neo-liberal economics generally. It’s good to see people so concerned with not only preserving media, but fair treatment of the people who make the media. This whole situation is a perfect showcase of how the capitalist relation ruins the creation of art and makes the lives of people who make the art hell.
@ZelcherProductions2 жыл бұрын
Economics has always stunted the creation of good art and the preservation of media which we’re seeing now more than ever. Animation has to be the toughest form of art to make right now since, mainly in the west, people look down on it as a lesser art form for kids while studios see it as disposable.

It's the economic prosperity brought about by individual liberty and rights that allows so many people to spend so much money and time on entertainment, whether as consumers or creators. People who live under the oppression of the unnatural imposed artificial and inhuman system you seem to be advocating for don't have the time or money to spend on such frivolous things.

Another problem with Piracy, Not everything is going to be pirated, and some people might give it another title for more clicks, if you were a Napster user back then you might know of some examples

A sad truth, and I support Piracy and Physical Media. It upsets me that we’ll never be able to pirate everything as well as how every piece of media won’t get a physical release.

Or with a show like OK K.O. Let's Be Heroes, it isn't uploaded in the proper order like it was on HBOmax.
@ZelcherProductions2 жыл бұрын
Yeah with piracy we’re pretty much limited to what people decide deserves to be documented. There could be shows/movies that people decide not to document out of lack of interest or poor reception. Also, most piracy depends on physical releases which a lot of films, and especially shows, don’t tend to receive anymore.

For gaming, it's best to stick with emulation. To end this off, the Warner Bros Discovery buyout is definitely one of the worst buyouts in existence. Just, let David Zalsav be fired. Everything Discovery touches turn to dust; they've messed with The Hub, and changed it to Discovery Family; which lead to the cancelation of Dan Vs("Curse you, Discovery!"), then Travel Channel by butchering the network to air paranormal reality shows instead of you know, shows that encourage tourism(excluding 2020 because coronavirus). What I hate about amazing companies making the most stingy and scummy of business practices is that they believe getting rid of things not available elsewhere will stop piracy, but it is the complete opposite. So yeah, like with a Dan Vs quote for the first brand Discovery ruined, remember what the legendary Robbie Rotten said, "You are a pirate.".

It's disgusting how these companies have so much control. As a gamer, I'm very much appalled at Ubisoft's actions. If you have bought a piece of media, you should have access to it. It's pretty scummy to take people's money and then take away what they paid for. It's stealing, really. And as for the Warner Bros debacle... This is the exact reason why I still buy physical copies of movies and shows that I like if I can, in case the streaming service shuts down or takes it off. But that's the thing - I do it _if_ I can. Like you said, plenty of film media doesn't get physically released any more, much like. Similarly, music has gone in this direction with services like Spotify. And like you said, the danger lies in the fact that, unlike with online-purchase-only video games, you're not paying for specific pieces of content - you're paying to be able to access the service itself. So if the service decides not to continue putting up something you like, whether that's a song or a show or a movie, there's nothing you can do except hope it's on a different service or has a physical release. And if it's not, like if it's a Netflix Original that gets taken off Netflix and they never did a phyical release, well... that's that. If it's on a piracy website, sure, you could risk malware and the gazillion ads to watch it, if that's your only goal. But if you want to properly support the people who actually made the art, you're at a dead end.
@DVDandFilmBloke2 жыл бұрын
That's the world we live in sadly, digital media isn't convenient for the customers, rather it allows companies to not only self censor but also take stuff away from people who paid good money for it (I'm pretty sure that's illegal, and if it isn't then it should be). Sure you need space for a physical media collection, but at least it's yours to keep for as long as it lasts (which will hopefully be for a hell of a long time if you take care of them). I mean I own a fair amount of content on DVD, Blu Ray and hell even VHS which I doubt will ever show up on streaming or would be edited to shit these days. This whole HBO Max thing is fucking disgusting, I hope to god HBO Max dies in its arse. Also in regards to piracy, while I love to find ways to support the artists, mainly by buying a favourite show or movie on DVD or Blu Ray sadly piracy or going the second hand route is a necessary evil when it really shouldn't be. One day I would love to set up my own boutique Blu Ray label and maybe streaming service to get a lot of stuff I love which has gone under the radar out and actually give the artists compensation for their hard work (sadly I don't see that happening).

You just got a new subscriber. Absolutely horrible how they're treating creators. Sure, I'll be able to watch something like OK K.O. just fine, but my 10 year old cousin can't just go on the app and find it, let alone the people who made it. Edit: typo

I saw comments suggesting teaching kids to pirate and while it’s not a terrible idea, making kids more tech/internet literate is always good, there is still an issue with it. The thing is, people tend to pirate stuff they are already aware of. If these shows are wiped off these platforms and not being advertised then how is a kid going find out it even exists.
@eddyrocks2 жыл бұрын
@@ZelcherProductions I somewhat disagree, while I don't think pirating is at all immoral, teaching kids to do things that can be illegal probably isn't the best idea, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't frequent sites like KissCartoon in my youth. Plus artists still aren't getting paid which is the real crime.

Just a minor point: losing market cap isn't the same thing as losing money. The market cap is the combined price of all the company's stock - meaning it's just what investors happen to think the company is worth at that moment. Having a high market cap is generally considered positive for a company since existing investors like to see their stock go up and the company can leverage it when taking out loans (of which Warner already has too many) or in business dealings, but a downward swing doesn't actually cost the company anything.

Bro Sony announced they were going to shut down the PS3 and Vita stores only a few months before they were going to do it. Sure they reversed their stance but only due to backlash from gamers and because they were selling Vita devkits days before. And don't forget about the time bomb attached to the trophy support in the PS3 and PS4 that will render this consoles obsolete. That's not a problem for the PS4 because the PS5 exist but the PS3 on the other hand you know the Playstation system that no other PlayStation has backwards compatibility with? The system due to the cell processor being so difficult to program for the emulation being very poor? Sony is easily the worst when it comes to preserving their legacy titles. Mostly because they forget they own a bunch of ips. Nintendo loves filling out old games and the backwards compatibility on Xbox is pretty good.
