I just bought one of these boards in carbon wrap, absolutely amazing. I was surfing 4-5 ft today with Chris Christenson keel fins only, goes so fast and holds and drives out of turns and makes all sections. Keep up the great reviews Trip!

Hey guys, great review, helps a lot! How would you compare the puddle fish vs the puddle jumper squash tail in the way it rides? I'm deciding between these 2. And would you recommend the lib tech version or pu for each

Hey. Love your review vids. Lots of useful info. I'm 190lbs/86ish kg am in decent shape and have been surfing for 15+ years but now can go weeks without a surf. I have a 6'2" v3 rocket and was wondering what size puddle fish would be good for me to compliment the v3 as groveller. Any words of wisdom?
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, thanks for commenting. Coming off of your 6'2 V3, you would be stoked on the 5'10 Puddle Fish. It has slightly more volume than your V3 and the foam is more condensed in a shorter board for better paddle power, speed, and maneuverability in small surf. We have a few in stock but check this one out www.realwatersports.com/lost-puddle-fish-pu-poly-5-10-39503

Hi team. I have a Puddle Jumper squash tail - best board ever. What would be the diffrence between this compared to the fish and also the round pin. Thnaks for your great videos
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 7 жыл бұрын
The Puddle Fish's wider tail creates more speed, while the tail creates less drag to give the Puddle Fish more speed and more acceleration out of turns than the standard and round tail puddle jumpers. The Round Tail features a little more rocker, more foiled rails, and the round tail to make this one work better in big surf.

Love the reviews. I've been watching them trying to figure out what board I need. Sounds like you're familiar with Puerto Rico. I live in San Juan, surf 3-5 days a week and need a board for la 8. Super slow, mushy wave most of the time, but I end up surfing it before work because it's 5 minutes from the house. I have a Lost V3 Rocket with a lot of volume (38L). It just doesn't get into the waves for me there when it's less than chest high. I switched with my buddy and rode his fish with the same volume and it was so much easier with the wide nose to paddle into the wave. What board would you suggest for that kind of wave without going full on longboard? I have the V3 for going out West to the faster hollower waves. (Machuca, Wildo, Domes Etc) I am 37, 5'7", 180lbs good shape, intermediate surfer. 🤙🏻🇵🇷🌴

Hey Niko, Thanks for writing in. We love surfing Puerto Rico and have surfed La 8 before. The Puddle Fish is a great call for that wave when it's under head high. You can ride the same volume as your V3 but if you really want to maximize small wave performance I would add a liter or two. All of our Puddle Fish with color and all other boards are $100 off today only: www.realwatersports.com/surfing/surfboards/lost/puddle-fish

Hi guys, Firstly thanks for doing all this reviews that are very helpflul ! It helped me a lot for choosing my boards, even I though I cannot but it at yours since I m bases in south west France ... I am an intermediate surfer, 40 years, 6'3 225 lbs riding a "winter waves" board 6'8 at 45L. I usually surf 3-4 times a week I am looking for a board for summer waves and puddle fish looks great. What size would you recommend for me ? I hesitate between 6'1, 6'2, even 6'3, I did not go that shorter but heard the board has a great paddle power ...
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 4 жыл бұрын
Julien, the 6'1" at 43L would be a lot of fun if 45 L is your winter wave board, and would still give plenty of foam to catch waves easily. The 6'3" at 45L may feel a little more difficult to maneuver around at all. We don't have the Puddle Fish right now but we do ship to France, let us know if you ever need anything. Cheers!

Hey Trip, great board presentation (of your personal board, I noticed the "For Trip" on the bottom)! My groveler is a Bottom Feeder 5'10 x 22 x 2.63 stock dims @ 40lt. How does the Puddle Fish compare to the BF? And if I were to replace the BF with a PF, which size, 5'10 or 5'11? Thanks
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Phaidrus. The Puddle Fish marks more drawn out arcing turns and carries more speed down the line, while the Bottom Feeder likes to make more pivotal turns. If you like your Bottom Feeder and how it paddles you should go with the 5'11 Puddle Jumper at ~40L

Hi Guys. Loving the review. I weigh about 200b (91kg) and am 6'0" tall. Currently riding a 6'2" x 21.1/2" x 2.2/5" fish. What size Puddle fish would you recommend for me? I have a 6'0" on order but was wondering wether to down size to a 5'11" (or smaller). Thanks in advance Matt.
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt, thanks for writing in. The 6'0 Puddle Fish is a good size as a small wave board at your weight. You could size down but you would need more powerful surf and would need to be in better position on the smaller board.

Hey! Could you give me some insight as to how the Puddle Fish and the RV compare to each other? Looking for a board to add to my quiver that will grovel well in small waves and windy/bumpy conditions. Also, great videos, I'm gonna have to stop by the shop next time I'm in OBX.
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Chase, both work in a similar wave range but make different turns and have a different feel overall. The RV likes to make tighter angled turns, pivoting off the tail, while the Puddle Fish makes more fish style, arced out, carving turns. What other boards have you been surfing? We'd be stoked to get you dialed in on the right shape. Cheers - Ashlon

What size would you receommend for someone 45 years old, surfing 4 times a year, intermediate and fit (not super fit though). Would a 5'11, 40L be too big? (my height 185cm, 77kg)

Good question
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 4 жыл бұрын
Ram, 40L would definitely be a lot of volume, but that could be ok. It's going to give you a ton of paddle power, and help get into waves early. It'll feel big if you are trying to throw some tighter turns, but if you're just looking to cruise the extra volume won't be an issue.
@uluwatu77
@uluwatu77 4 жыл бұрын
@@REALWatersports thanks. I definitely need help to get into waves early, but I don't want to compromise pumping and tight turns. What would you recommend? Perhaps a different model or just a smaller board

Just wondering about sizing for the puddle jumper range, particularly the puddlefish. I ride a 6'5. 40.9L quiver killer as my alrounder. I can decide between the 6'2 and 6'1. 6'2 seems like a lot of volume at 44L.. but 6'1 sounds short. I've never ridden a board that short.. I still need some paddle power. I'm 6'1 and 240 pounds
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 7 жыл бұрын
Craig, We'd recommend the 6'1. Riding a shorter board is great when you have this much foam packed in. It will paddle really well with all that foam right beneath you and the shorter rail line creates less drag so the board takes off lightning fast down the line. Hope this helps - Ashlon

Just wanted say thank you for your advise on the sizing of this board. I bought the 6'1 in PU. (Didn't purchase from you guys as I live in Australia. But for my weight and height the 6'1 is perfect at 43L. Not too big or too small.. it feel unreal! I absolutely love this board!

Hey Jay, Thanks for writing in. We don't stock Sharp Eye, but may be demoing the Metamorph in the future. You should check out the Lost Puddle Jumper. It's an excellent small wave board that rides on rail and turns like a performance shortboard. Cheers - Ashlon

Hi guys! I have a lost v3 Rocket and I want to complete my quiver with puddle fish, is it a good option? or could be better Puddle Jumper Round Pin?. What would you pick having a V3 Rocket. Great channel!
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 4 жыл бұрын
Eduardo, the Puddle Fish will have more low end. If you're looking for a groveler to complete your quiver then that would be the way to go. If you want more of a hybrid shortboard feel, with a bit more range, the Puddle Jumper Round Pin would be a good fit
@savanschaick
@savanschaick 4 жыл бұрын
I used to have a v3 and loved it! I'd go carbon wrap for the really small days if you do go with puddle jumper. The PU Puddle Jumper wasn't an amazing groveler to me. Otherwise that puddle fish looks loose and fun no matter the construction.

Hi! Thanks for the review. Really consider buying the puddle fish next summer but i'm not sure what size will suit me the best. I'm 6'0 ft tall and weigh about 77 kilograms. Currently riding an 6'4 hypto krypto shape (43 L). Most waves we get to surf in the Netherlands vary from knee to shoulder height so with that information, is it doable for you guys to give me any indication about which size puddle fish would be great for me for endless fun :) Thanks in advance!
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Mitchel, Thanks for commenting. How do you like your 6'4? If you are looking to keep the same paddle power you can size it the same but if you don't mind working harder you will experience more speed and maneuverability from a smaller board, in the 5'9-5'10 range,
@mitchel3580
@mitchel3580 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick response! Well, I do like my 6'4. It catches waves quite easily but isn't super maneuverable to be honest. I was already thinking about going smaller but the waves we get here most of the time are not very powerful. I don't wanna make the mistake about going to small and having the risk of missing too much waves. What do you reckon for something in between like a 5'11?
@REALWatersports
@REALWatersports 6 жыл бұрын
I think sizing down will be a lot of fun for you and the 5'11 is a good compromise.

Hey Ryan, The 5''11 at ~40L will be a great size for you. If you want even more paddle power go for the Carbon Wrap construction, its light weight and floats more, also faster down the line and through turns.

@REALWatersports

It depends on what feel you're going for. With this tail, it could totally work if you want a fast and skatey feel. If you prefer to have a more locked-in ride for turns that won't be ideal, but if you don't mind that, it could be really fun in smaller surf. Now you have me curious too, I'm gonna ask Trip if we can raid his stash and find this board.
