I remember getting chills after watching the episode when the CD player dies: I felt so unsettled because it was a way of saying "now you're really lost, really on your own"... the silence afterward was heavy, redundant. It was a powerful, meaningful, touch.

I thought this scene was rather clever, letting us hear what Hurley is listening to and then watching the show while hearing the score. Then when the batteries die it's no longer a score but goes back to what Hurley was listening to in the first place. XD It's rare to have a joke like this during a series, almost as if the show were interacting with us. I love interaction! XD
