This was always one of my favourite episodes, loved the Sawyer Juliet relationship surprise. I was laid up after having surgery in 2004 and was casually channel surfing when I discovered a random drama about a plane that crashed on an island. I tuned in at the end of episode one and I've been forever more pressing that Lost button. During the same month I started watching another fantastic series Battlestar Galactica. I have both on box set now. Love your reaction to this. xx
@willsofer36793 жыл бұрын
Ronald Moore's version of Battlestar Galactica is a masterpiece, which thankfully was recognized even while it was airing. Probably in the top ten of shows to ever air, for many people. Definitely something the Duo should look into reacting to.

@@willsofer3679 Totally agree. And I have to say that there were five or six episodes that for me represented some of the greatest drama I have seen. They are definitely up there with some of the great moments of TWD or Lost.

The thing unique about this show is that the main character, Jack, his story isn't actually that of the typical hero's journey. His story and character growth isn't about learning to become a hero. He already was a hero from the very first episode when he's saving people at the plane crash. His journey is about learning to let go. It's actually Sawyer who undergoes the hero's transformation in the series. He starts out as someone who has no interest in helping other people, who actively makes a living taking advantage of other people, into one of the most heroic and selfless people as the series goes on.

Horace actually met them earlier. He was the one who pulled over to the side of the road for Ben's father when his wife gave birth to Ben. That's how he knew Ben's dad and eventually offered him a job on the island.

Lets not forget Richard ( whose is in his late 30's / early 40's ) was the one ( with Ethan in Miami ) who convinced Juliet to come to the island in 2001 and the one who talked to Locke in 1954 at the Others army camp with Ellie and young Charles about Jughead so that would make him at least 95 ( 35 + 50 ) years old at this point. *this episode took place between 1974 and 1977

@@rxtsec1 I know but is not fair that Jack had something when Sawyer is not longer playing with it. I know that this was your way of thinking in your first wacth I guest but I think that also Jack deserves something good. He is suffering a lot just like Sawyer. In my first rewatch I liked more Jack and Kate because it was meant to be from the first episode you can see it. But now I think that Jack would had been better with Juliet, that’s the kind of person he needs to overcome his trauma because Juliet is not with secret and she is direct, that’s one big thing that Jack needed. And Sawyer and Kate will not had been that bad because they had a lot in común (the only problem was that she didn’t love him or she didn’t love him enough) but Jack and Juliet will had been perfect too. After all he was the only one who really believe in her when anyone didn’t. I’m thinking with my kind of writter lol 😂 and my mind of writing tell me that had more sense Juliet and Jack being a couple more than her and Sawyer, but anyways that didn’t happen in that way

Elouise said they needed the flight to be as identical to the original as possible or there could be consequences . I think that the fact the recreation of the flight wasn't as ideal as it could have been is what caused some passengers to flash through to the 70s.

I take it as the island reacting to the time loop created by Sawyer taking the rope back to 2000-1500 years ago. From that moment the Island has been trying to reconcile events on the island. After all, if not for the rope, then the well isn't dug ... if the well isn't dug then the orchid isn't built and so so on. The Oceanic 6 have to come back not to save Sawyer and Co. but to save the time loop and with it existence. There are events yet to happen in the past that must happen because they always did. Those events are why the Oceanic 6 must return. You have to remember if the Oceanic 6 had not left the island, then they too would have become time travelers and would still have ended up in 1970s Dharmaville with Sawyer Co. The events we have yet to see would still have happened because the characters would have been present for them to happen. Again the island needs those events to happen and so because they are not present the island has been forced to course correct in order to make whatever happened .. happen. This is why only a few of them came to the 70s. I wager Sun did not get sent to the 70s because if Oceanic 6 had not escaped the island, then she would have died during child birth just as Juliet said, most likely induced early by the flashes, meaning that she would not have been present in the 70s. And don't forget .. you know who .. could they have been keeping Sun alive so that if she came back, she would be useful? hmmmmm

I wonder what would have happened if they went back at the present time and there was no one on the island.

As a viewer, we only got to see glimpses of them ''getting on well' as friends - it wasn't supposed to be romantic in the beginning'. They then had THREE years together, so it is actually highly likely. If not, more likely than him and Kate getting together after a few months. It was supposed to be somewhat of a twist, that's why it is revealed in this way.
@lunavioleta0013 жыл бұрын
@@CucumberCheese 1. It doesn't matter if it "makes sense". It is about the writing, development, and chemistry. With that logic, you could put Sawyer with anyone, even Richard, and it wouldn't make a difference. 2. Twist? How? It was just two characters being in a romance and it was obvious. Sawyer or Juliet with Jin would be more of a "twist" than that.
