Not my point. All I'm saying is I watch enough Spongebob to know the writers of the show can come up with something more disturbing and clever than that standard creepypasta. Other than the fact a suicidal Squidward is subtext and they did indeed make a couple jokes about it, If they intended to write an episode about Squidward killing himself they'd play it for dark laughs. Hell, there was a recent episode where Krabs found out art is worth more if the artist is dead and even attempts to kill Squidward as a result. All I'm saying is if you're parodying something, you need to be a level smarter than the source material, not under it.

Although to play Devil's Advocate, I'm still surprised that episodes like The Splinter or that one scene in House Fancy actually got Greenlit. Like the gruesome imagery and pain filled voice acting was just really hard to watch. I mean when I saw the episode "Are you Happy Now?" Playing on tv I was pretty surprised that "Squidward's Suicide" almost became canon, albeit the entire episode was completely different from the events detailed in the creepypasta, but there were still several moments that looked like Squidward was about to kill himself so although the creepypasta is obviously fake and not even all that well written, clearly the crew of Spongebob aren't new to getting certain things past the radar.

I think the major issue with “Squidward’s Suicide” is that it’s supposed to have been developed supernaturally (demonically). But creepypasta doesn’t have to be believable.

Yup. That's why these types of stories don't hold up. Animation is time-consuming. But a lot of people don't realize that. And the reason people make things like this up is because evil lurking beneath innocence is a tried and true formula for horror. Just look at Stephen King, Clive Barker or even David Lynch. I think the implication is supposed to be that it was somehow supernaturally edited. Nevertheless, I want to go on record as saying that not for a second do I believe that "Squidward's Suicide" is real.
