Like your way to explain this content 🙂. Still looking for my opportunities. Thanks for knowledge sharing.

I am excited your finding my videos helpful. Where are you casting? Home, school, elsewhere?

@@LunarburnStudio just started a job wax chasing, they are have me start by spruing. My only experience in chasing comes from warhammer 40k. I have a bit of ocd and a nerd, which I think will work to my advantage, in this particular line of work. I worked in a sign and print shop awhile ago laminating and finishing work. Your videos have already helped me out.

Gratz on the new job. Every foundry has their own system and approach but the theories are the same.

This sprue system was pretty straight forward. Will you cover more complex systems in the future?
@LunarburnStudio4 жыл бұрын
The short answer is Yes. I thought starting with this pattern and taking it from start to finish would be a great way to cover the basics and create a foundation for me to build on as I go deeper into the art of metal work in future videos.

You mention the material would go through 10 different layers/steps of drying. What different layers/steps are you referring to?
@LunarburnStudio2 жыл бұрын
The ceramic shell investment is applied to the wax one layer or "Dip" at a time. You apply the slurry first then dust with silica then let dry. Then the next coat and so on. After roughly 10 dips/coats you will have an appropriate thickness that can withstand both the process of burning out the wax and the pouring of your metal.

Have you ever put two skulls together in a gating system?
@LunarburnStudio9 ай бұрын
I have done two skulls at the time I think the largest one I did was 4 skulls, but at that point, the shell gets unwieldy

Whenever your attaching to your sprue, do you ever have issues with your pattern being to large or heavy so that the sprue doesn't support it?
@LunarburnStudio9 ай бұрын
If the pattern is too large and can’t be supported by one gate, it probably needs more gates to feed the metal appropriately across the pattern

Is the sprue going to leave a noticeable mark after the metal is added and dried? Do you create your own sprues and vents for the purpose of a project or are they already made and you purchase them?
@LunarburnStudio Жыл бұрын
1. Yes, every gate and vent will leave a mark that will need to be chased (ground down and sanded) 2. You can certainly make your own gates and vents but for convenience I buy them.

Why can´t you spray paint your slurry on the pattern instead of dunking it to prevent the pattern getting lose from the sprue system ?
@LunarburnStudio Жыл бұрын
There are some airless spray hoppers that can push the slurry without drying too much, but its only really practical on large shells. I have tried it before, had some success but in the end I would end up wasting slurry with over spray.

With your reclaimed wax do you end up adding more stiffer wax as it gets more sprue wax mixed in to maintain consistency or does it stay relatively the same on its own?
@LunarburnStudio2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need to tweak the composition of the reclaimed. typically stiff wax in the summer and softer in the cooler months.
