Twilight Princess's Hyrule largely retcons the layout from Ocarina of Time, though there are many parallels. After navigating the Lost Woods, you would come out at the "bottom", and Saria waits for you at the "top". The Forest Temple is also at the "top", for when you become Adult Link.

I wonder if they kept those "hints" in the woods... I guess if it's not my game problem, everybody noticed but in the hallways that you pass to another area are completely dark and the ones that make you go to the beginning have a little light in the middle, except the one to enter the Sacred Meadow that has the little light too. Only when I noticed it [what took some years] I could walk in these woods like a final boss form with the triforce of map ownage.

The easy way of sorting the lost woods is to run up to the hole to the next room, if it's dark... you will return to the kokiri forest... if you can see the next room... well, you know the rest..
