The most important scientific expedition ever conducted in Papua departs on the discovery of a lost world, isolated for millions of years: the Lengguru massif. It harbours deep valleys and an immense labyrinth of never explored underground caves.
In the chaotic topography of Lengguru called karsts, are found many natural phenomena never before seen. There we find intriguing sites: a lake where the waters disappear strangely underground then rise again, a river as wide as the Seine whose source remains impossible to find in the underground depths, or even an isolated cave that hides unknown invertebrates with extreme adaptations.
Biologists, geneticists, hydrologists, speleologists, karstologists and underground fauna specialists lead this inquiry in the field and then in laboratories to understand the evolution of living beings in an environment subject to constant geological upheavals.
Documentary: Lengguru, A Living Sanctuary - Episode 3: Life Underground (2018)
Direction: Christine Tournadre

Wow, what a fabulous adventure! The Lengguru Massif is pristine wilderness and the people there are beautiful. It’s wonderful that they have lived there since ancient times in complete harmony with their environment. I’m glad the scientists and their teams were respectful. Precious ecosystems of this type are unique. They must be understood and protected from the harmful influences that are laying waste to so many similar regions around the world.

The pretentious scientists think they will "educate" the natives on how to take care of the environment. Too bad the scientists don't realize that the natives have bee taking care of and living in harmony for ten thousand years longer than the ignorant scientists.

There definitely needs to be legislation implemented to protect these areas. And the indigenous peoples. Let us not repeat the "greed filled past"

Extremely volatile goo...bat guano This rates up there with Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau. One of the benefits of growing up in a boomtown, watching the evolution of television. From B&W to "The Wizard of Oz"(one of, if not the first )color pictures...and all the other things money can buy

Earth is an incredible planet and life will probably only be stopped only by an object the size hitting us directly. Theia hit us at a glance and created the moon just one accident that made this planet unique

I'd love to go help on a expedition like this. It would be better in a place where Spanish is spoken but I don't care. I can learn another language easy enough. And I'm a native born Florida man, in the pest control business. Catching critters is just my job. I spent 9 years in Central America near the jungle too. Good times.

Maybe they have tranquilizers for any big animals they come across. They have monitor lizards up to 8 feet long in papua. If they spot a new species they might have to play it safe and tranq it to get up close for study.

The bird that was shot is a Victoria crowned pigeon. I watch homesteaders in Georgia that their daughter is into pigeons and they have a mating pair of these. Plus tons of other kinds of animals. Cog Hill Farm

With respect. Reg timestamp starting at 13:08 , researcher climbing over fallen tree trunk. Exactly how remote and difficult is their area of interest, if persons unknown have carved their initials and names into the fallen trunk the scientist is climbing over. Multiple carvings. Begs the question. And who shot that amazing blue feathered bird. They just arrive and finding wounded birds, they say it's been shot, who the vet in the group. Now reg the piglets, not pigmy pigs, who been conducting a pig head count announcing that the forest has to many pigs anyway so eat up. This is not as virgin or remote as were lead to believe. If the pigs are endemic then pigs are not a problem. If pigs introduced and escaped then man created the problem not the pig. I'm a meat eater also.

Within 2 minutes the narrator jumps from 'adaptation' to 'evolution'. Freaking scientists. Translate 'sci enti fic' from Latin into your own language and learn it means " know that it is fiction".
