Restoring An Antique 1900’s Rivet Press

I restore a broken Rex rivet press from the early 1900's. This restoration project was a fun project to pull out all the rust remover tools and try out my new sandblaster to get rid of all the rust.

Another restorer doing the light blue and black color scheme, love it! The HK Porter bolt cutters I restored a few months back used this same color scheme - hard to beat that look!

PB Blaster is some good stuff.. Makes WD-40 look like water, but if you need something that is far better than PB Blaster, try mixing up a 50-50 batch of Acetone and Automatic Transmission fluid.. it has been tested against the best penetrants on the market and found superior to them all, and is dirt cheap to make.. BTW, restoration turned out beautiful... Take care my friend..

Tandy leather work probably has what you want. BUT you can get new anvils to suit different rivets if you want

Non-inverting can of penetrating fluid. Try a shallow angle.
