The quilt was my favorite, I’m from Maryland but was in the Delaware National Guard (eventually moved there 17 years), now residing in Central Arkansas- so I became excited to see Delaware and a piece of Arkansas 😁😁😁 I need to learn ebay or whatnot or youtube…my gut is telling me I need to find an additional way to sell things. Great haul 😊

Oh my goodness I had to pause when you showed finding the McDonald's hamburger maker😱😍 I got one when I was a kid and I haven't thought about it in decades!! That took me back❤ Also it wasn't actually hamburger meat, no worries😂 if i remember correctly it was like a cookie dough kind of thing, the ketchup and mustard were basically frosting lol Thank you for that little stroll back in time & i loved getting to see your haul!! I highly recommend looking into a tool called a point driver, to shoot in those flexible tabs on the backs of picture frames and art. I struggled for several years using other methods (nails, glazier points, duct tape, etc.). The point driver is definitely worth the investment - it makes putting art back together in frames so easy! I bought a Logan brand, but that was pre-Covid. I see now their prices are much higher than when I purchased, but there are other brands available that cost less.

I started selling on eBay last year, I was so nervous bc is was "an Etsy" girl. But lately, Etsy has been a bit slow. A few things...ebay buyers are NOT as nice, there is no such thing as no returns, don't care what you hear. A buyer can push a return, and eBay ALWAYS sides with the buyer. Prices for vintage are often LESS on eBay... But I've doubled my revenue with eBay so get that stuff listed!!! 😊😊

As far as eBay goes with me, I only do auctions for rare items that people will more than likely have a bidding war. Otherwise, I research sold items and do "buy it now" for 98% of what I sell. Also, you'll want to know measurements and approx weight of your shipping box/envelope when entering your shipping info. I use calculated shipping and unless I enter incorrect measurements, the shipping costs are spot on. Also, use media mail to ship your books. Re the inkwell: the glass turns purple from exposure to the sun due to the sort of "sand" used in making the glass bottle, I think.

Dinah Shore was a singer, and was known for (among other things) singing a jingle for Chevy ads on TV -“See the USA in your Chevrolet”. . . probably late 50’s, early 60’s. She also dated Bert Reynolds for awhile, but you probably don’t know who he is either!

Very interesting ! I am fascinated with what people choose to buy. Everybody chooses something different. How do people make their choices? Is it emotion? Logic? Instinct? How can a person's shopping interests be changed? Education? Advertising? Visual merchandising? What makes people tic? Narration? Wouldn't it be fun to have a divided egg basket in a Mom & Pop shop? The basket could be titled, Treasure Hunt. On one side of the basket could be little pieces of paper with items to look for, such as bunny, red book, or white tea cup. After the guest finds the item, then they could put the little papers on the other side of the basket. If I did that, then I would think about bunnies for a while. Perhaps I would start looking for other little animals and make my own Treasure Hunt Basket and find a deer to write down. This is the type of thing that is done in education to create enthusiasm for new things. My choices have changed during the last few years, and it was because of conscious choices to diversify and create challenges for myself to create something classy out of something I might not normally be interested in. And sometimes I would buy something to embellish what I already have. What do you think? .

I think you're idea sounds super fun. I also think what people pick can depend on a lot of things. Some people are easily persuaded by trends, others have emotional ties to items from nostalgia, and then yes! Education can really impact what people pick. It is an interesting idea to consider :)

I've been a reseller on eBay since early 2000's. I take lots of photos, describe things to the best of my ability, mention any flaws. I do global shipping through ebay. I ship out right away and don't charge any handling fees. I sometimes offer free shipping depending on the sale of the item. If it's something small and I make a lot of money on it, I offer free shipping and insurance. Personally, I don't take returns but that's why I do a detailed description and urge that they ask questions prior to bidding or buying. I'm happy to share anything else with you or answer any questions. You find some really cool stuff!

You probably know that, but prices in London are higher than anywhere else in England. To get the best prices, you need to go to small towns, preferably the non touristy ones.

Yes, that's something we are aware of :) It's kind of a just-for-fun trip where we will see what we can find. My friend wasn't comfortable renting a car and neither was I, so we will just do our best and enjoy our time together!

Hi Melanie! I've been selling on ebay for over 5 years. Books for me are hit and miss but I would just say make sure you research what's listed and what has sold to help you. The final value fees for books are now 15.3% starting Feb 14. My husband and I went to Fayetteville yesterday for a doctors appointment and stopped in Potter's House Thrift afterwards. Oh my have the prices gone up! I'm having a hard time finding things to resell here in the Fort Smith area and I thought NWA would be better but I pretty much left empty handed. Only bought books and paper ephemera for my junk journal making. God bless!

That inkwell is probably purple because some old glass had Manganese in it. If Manganese glass gets a lot of sun exposure, it turns purple. There are collectors that love the purple and collectors that hate it. Lol
