Onew wasn’t trained on classical/opera. He performed it coz he wanted to do it/he liked it. This is at their concert, where they perform Solo stages, he chose to do Nessun Dorma.

Onew can hold a note for 40 seconds without changing pitch or tone. All of SHINee are known for their amazing vocals. You really need to check out SHINee more to understand how blessed we are to be able to enjoy their voices. Although this performances is super impressive and blows everyone away, at the same time if you are a Shawol (a SHINee fan) it really doesn't surprise you that much because once you know SHINee, you come to expect things like this from them. All 5 of them are absolutely some of the best vocalists you will ever hear. And when you put their voices together they produce harmonies that will give you chills :D

Nessun Dorma (which even the title is in Italian) is a famous Italian opera that most classical singers know. Its a song that is part of a traditional Italian opera and I am pretty sure it was sung by artists such as Pavarotti. This was just a cover of the song at a concert which gave Onew the opportunity to show off his vocals and to wow the audience (and you I see LOL) The song was in Italian, so not only is his vocal ability impressive, but he is also sings in Italian which makes it that much more awe inspiring. i don't know if you know this yet or not but Onew is the leader of the Kpop group SHINee and SHINee are known for their amazing live vocals and their impressive choreography. Its performances like this that show why Onew (and Key -- another member of SHINee) are perfect stage actors. They have a voice that is clear with precise pronunciation, diction and tone, and they have no trouble projecting their voices to the back of the theater.

I remember from one SM entertainment vocal trainer interview (written article interview? I dont remember) who mentioned that out of the SM entertainment artists, he would say that SHINee members have some of the most versatile voices and talents ....And we really do see that throughout their discographies! They dont stay stagnant, they try new things like concepts, genres, songs, etc...That's why they stay relevant in the industry and they keep producing good music and they know their strengths and they play with those strengths. Anyway, really enjoyed your reaction!!

Totally Agree! One of the reason why Shinee is my ultimate group because of that. They are so different from other groups. And of course their discographies are amazing! You don't get bored with their music. I also saw one interview of a SM producer/composer/songwriter and said, he likes making music for Shinee because they are the only group who can sing his songs very well because they all are amazing vocalist.

Onew probably has one of the widest ranges and best breath control in K-Pop in general. But all of SHINee are exceptional vocalists, you really need to check their live stages out! Like Stranger live in Seoul, it's one of their most iconic performances!

A vocal teacher once said that Onew sang this piece not to show off his voice but out of his love for Shawols...that's what made it sounds so pure and greater than other versions he heard.

I really think the shinee video you reacted to was not the best representation of their vocal abilities. This is much more along the lines of what they're capable of. Especially Jonghyun and Onew, who are 2 of the best vocalists in the business. SHINee is also known for having the best harmonies when they sing together :3

I agree. They have to remember that that song was most likely performed towards the end of the concert which is filled with dancing etc. I could hear a lot of vocal fatigue more than anything

yes this is one of many reasons why SHINee is a very unique than other kpop idols...THEY CAN SING...really really really sing with all their heart...please do check his other solo Japanese song "Rainy Blue" or his co -member Jonghyun "Y Si Fuerre Ella" ...or for another surprise,do check their version of "Tie A Yellow Ribbon" ...this is really good I promise...and I really love your reaction...looking forward to more SHINee reactions...thank you... =)♥♥♥

Watching a SHINee Con is like surprise surprise!! 😊😊 One time Onew also did TAP DANCE in a performance dance break. Twas 👌👌, he’s also not like officially trained for that too, he just liked to try Tap Dance.

If im not mistaken he did the tap dance after his vocal cord surgery and wasnt able to sing fully yet. I could totally be wrong on that tho. But Onew is my k-pop bias and will miss him while he serves his military time but I will wait for my Tofu leader 💎

Onew (Lee jinki) has such a range. He can hold a note for 40 seconds. SM entertainment (thier agency) make sure they get the best of the best in regards to vocals dance rap the natural talent is there but they amplify it. Jinki has an incredible voice and his solo album is coming on the 5th December:)

In this kind of situation, singing without vibrato is actually much harder than singing with it. When it’s a song like this that puts a lot of strain on the vocal chords, it is very difficult to be able to sustain the pitch and vibrato helps with that. The fact that he is able to sing this so beautifully without the vibrato is absolutely insane and just shows how talented he is.

onew learned this song in 3 weeks! And it's a very reliable source because it was Taemin who told my daughter Marion. Just like Taemin learned the song from the French movie "la boum" in just two days, he even rehearsed on the plane !!!

You should check out a live preformance of Everybody.....little back story on why I say this. During one of the preformances Onew's in-ear died half way thru the performance. So he had to perform without the backup sound in his ear. With the tough choreo and his high note he NAILED it. SHINee is professional......SHINee is perfection (with the occasional "onew condition" lol)

Before onew had the surgery, he didn't even know if he would be able to sing again. Fast forward and he's showing he worked hard through recovery and capable of still being a part of shinee to do concerts. One effect is he definitely sang with less vibrato but fans were very happy to see him back on stage and still recognizable with his signature voice.
