Both stunning but the first is my favourite. I wish they would make a stamp using ‘ favourite’ and ‘colour’ spellings too. Not a great expense.

Wouldn't that be wonderful, I do have one set from them that I think is called 'over the pond' and it has the 'correct' spelling lol.

Agreed. I would prefer the option, even if a pound dearer, to have a stamp set that I can make full use of, than pay for a set with redundant parts.

Loved the cards. You are so good with colour choices & shading, however I love the simplicity of the 2nd card. it was so effective & much quicker! 🙂

Can not decide a favourite. Both are so pretty. Watching and thinking, you could emboss with a stencil. Not so dimensional as a folder but will try it and color in as you showed. Thank you for all valuable tips. Wish you a merry Christmas and happy new year 🎉🤗

That is what we did before die cutting and embossing machines. We used a lightbox and stencils to draw , cut with a fine knife, and emboss. Brass stencils made it easier too. You can use the rubber mat you have for your machine and a set of metal ball tools and/or shaders as used in parchment craft , and for shaping die cut flowers.

@ Thank you so much for taking time to write. Great tip, I will go on and try different options. I do have the tools you mention. 🤓😁👍

Yes, you can definitely get a fabulous embossed look using a stencil, as you say it will not have the 3D effect, but it will still have dimension. Merry Christmas to you too my friend x

They are both lovely. However the first is special. You can easily tell the difference between the stenciled one, and the one you took the time and talent to colour realistically . I always think it is worth the effort, although the stencils do have their place. Thanks for showing the full colouring process. There were so many flawed tutorials at first teaching us all to blend the alcohol markers when wet. Waiting till they dry makes such a difference. I coloured like a child, until I learnt the flicking technique ,using a finely sharpened polychromo pencil vertically, when learning parchment craft, so it is good to see a similar thing with alcohol markers. I will definitely be giving it a go. I use a light box and old fashioned embossing tools and techniques to improve embossing folder results, it can help if colouring flattens them a bit too, or to see the edges better. A little beeswax, or rubbing with a tealight before embossing also helps condition the fibres, we do it all the time with parchment paper/ vellum. Thanks for some good tuition, it makes all the difference when someone is patient enough to cover everything they do.

I love that alcohol markers are so forgiving, it took me years to realise. And cardstock and the colours I choose can also make a difference. I used to 'overblend' and sometimes I still do lol. But, I definitely step away a lot earlier now. I still have my light box... I am sure that I don't have any of the metal stencils anymore... but I do have the wooden embossing tools in a few different sizes. So glad you stopped by Lillia, thank you for your lovely comments x

I was just looking at some embossed pieces of cardstock today, wondering if I could color them without smooshing the embossing! Thank you so much for this video--very timely for me! 😉
@lostinpaper3 күн бұрын
And if you do find you lose some of the 'dimension' from the cardstock becoming wet, you can always re-emboss it after. I don't tend too (unless I have to) because I have 'missed' it before and ruined the result, but I know many people that re-emboss all the time, but you can also tape it in place so it doesn't shift. Hope you have fun creating!

Therese, they are both gorgeous! The first has a 'vintage' look to it yet using the hello sentiment made it less serious and more fun! I could watch you color for days, my friend! Your eyesight might not be what it used to be, but you continue to have the steady hand of a surgeon! The second technique is one I will be trying - now let's see... do I have this one? =] [btw YOU are my favorite!]

My fave was the stencil result, I think it's one of those cards that looks better IRL. Hard to get the effect in the photos, but I am glad you will be trying it, I can't wait to see the results! HUGS right back atcha!

honestly Therese I had never thought about or seen anyone color an embossing folder impression with alcohol markers! And Idk what you didn’t like about the purple but I’m super impressed! I would’ve ruined that early on by coloring over the whole petal with the light color. So it’s a great lesson in coloring for me how you did opposite edges and left white card in the middle. Just beautiful! I just bought spectrum noir tri blend markers;all 3 sets. But I’m kinda chicken to try this! lol OH! I mailed your Christmas card a week ago this past Monday. So it’s coming. Hope you like it.
@lostinpaperКүн бұрын
hahaha what's to ruin... it's a piece of paper, and you probably have more lol. My problem with the purple is that it looked to 'grey', I chose the wrong tone for the overall effect, but colouring overtop changed that and I was happy then. I do hope you give it a try, those Spectrum Noirs are calling lol. Can't wait for the happy mail my friend x

@ I was impressed with the acrylic markers. They seemed to flow like a normal marker not a paint marker. The cards were all great!
@dizzineseКүн бұрын
I have a couple of sets of embossing folders and stencils from Altenew and have had them for YEARS! and have not made one yet! I started to try one once after I embossed it and it didn’t seem to fit the stencil correctly and it left a white edge, so then I never tried it again!
@lostinpaperКүн бұрын
How frustrating... I know that manufacturers can struggle with this at times, it's something to do with the process it changes the 'size' so they have to resize it before... too confusing for me lol.
@dizzinese8 сағат бұрын
@ i just need to try stenciling first, then embossing. But I just haven’t gotten back to it. I want to soon and I need 2 Feb birthday cards plus valentines if I can.
