Yeah, one's own beginnings are reflected in the new metalhead's enthusiasm. It makes nostalgic, reminds you of those moments where you discovered Metal and how it can move you... and it reignites the love for the music when you see people discovering it. On top of that it adds to your own understanding, because each time you get a new perspective on the matter and you might see something in a song that you always missed, even though you've been listening to it for a decade or more. And there's so much more stoff for the LIV boys to discover.... crazy stuff like Satyricon's Rebel Extravaganza, one of Metal's weirdest and coolest albums... just in general a lot of cool stuff in that sweet zone where Black Metal mixes with all kinds of other styles... "Blackened Death Metal" bands could be something the two enjoy... etc. etc. etc. just sooo much stuff to listen to :D

You guys should check out Carcass. They were a very influential band, and were the forerunners of the "Gothenburg" sound, melodic death metal. Their guitar player went on to found a band called Arch Enemy. Without Carcass and At The Gates (another band from the same time period) you dont have modern metal. 80s thrash paved the way for Carcass. And Carcass paved the way for melodic death metal and metalcore. Check out either Buried Dreams off Heartwork (reminds me of this song a little) or Coporeal Jigsore Quandary.

MAD props for picking up on the Jazz overtones in this song. Chris Poland & Gar Samuelson, the Lead guitarist & drummer of this lineup, were both Jazz musicians who'd played in a Jazz-Fusion band called The New Yorkers. Mustaine recruited them for their virtuoso playing, which, combined with the Thrash, was something no one had ever heard before.

Behold, the flames rise From the compass's cardinal points Burn the sacred oil And with the ashes you'll annoint Arrange the symbols Of the wizard and magician Light the candles Place the parchment paper in position Between its leaves place The lash from a black cat's eye A straw of a broom Fold and burn and centralize Don't summon the devil Don't call the priests If you need the strength Then conjure me I am the devil's advocate A salesman, if you will You know my name You know my name I met your father years ago Gave him what he'd please He called my name And you'll do the same I'm claiming what is mine by right It's time to close the deal You're bought and sold Bought and sold Come join me in my infernal depths Mephisto's Hall of Fame I've got your soul I've got your soul The conjuring Obey!

The “All-star team” reference is completely accurate. Dave Mustaine always hand-picked the highest level musicians to be in Megadeth. Chris Poland Marty Friedman the new guitarist Kiko Loureio all phenomenal. The drummers Gar Samuelson Nick Menza Chris Adler. Only All-star musicians are allowed in Megadeth haha

Franco Kcy0 they didn’t need one, it’s exactly what makes them unique. Dave is perfect for his band. Could they have gotten someone “better”? Of course, but it wouldn’t be MEGADETH.

Franco Kcy0 Although Dave is far from the best metal singer I absolutely prefer him over most generic scream/growl/ metal singers. Dave has a unique voice and it causes Megadeth to have a unique sound which makes them more memorable than all of the cut and paste metal bands with the generic “deep voice” singer Megadeth would sound better with James Hatfield Phil Amselmo or Chuck Billy though. But I prefer Dave Mustaine over most “average” metal singers. At least Dave has a completely original style and snarl and attitude

@@vosman86 Well, don't get me wrong, I love Megadeth, but his voice is hit and miss almost constantly during their first records, at least until Countdown where he find a more suitable way of singing. He never had a technique, every time I seen them live he looked like he was suffering, and he we are, after years of abusing of his limited voice he got cancer..

What that man said: wake up dead and In my Darkest Hour. I remember buying 'so far, so good, so what...'when it came out and somehow feeling let down that it wasn't up to Peace Sells level. And then 'In my darkest hour' hit me. For that track alone the album was worth the trip to Woolworths ;)
