There was an interview with Tobias Forge recently where he said exactly what his thinking is about music. Why would you make a song that's not fun for the listener? He grew up liking 70s and 80s arena rock, pop, and hair metal and having all the black metal people in the 90s shitting on it for stuff that was extreme and difficult to listen to like Mayhem.

Ghost always reminds me of Blue Oyster Cult. Blue Oyster Cult is so much more than "Don't Fear the Reaper". They are truly a thinking man's rock band with super dark and twisted stories. For instance, BOC's "Unknown Tongue" sounds almost exactly like a Ghost song would sound

Ghost have fun with the "Scooby Doom" image, but are killer songwriters. The chorus sounds like he's saying "I wanna be with you...", but it's really saying.. "I wanna be-witch you..". Fun, right? This is Ghost at their most "ABBA". Ghost are from Sweden, where ABBA is royalty. Check out Rats or Faith, both excellent rock songs - not as dance-ey as this, but great songs.

@Britton_Thompson
@Britton_Thompson 2 жыл бұрын
@@vovindequasahi No, it's 100% a gimmick. Tobias Forge is not a practicing Satanist or occultist in real life. He's plainly stated in interviews before that he only uses these figures and symbols as representatives of things in his personal life. There hasn't been a single song he's written thus far where he's genuinely infatuated with, or proclaiming his allegiance to, the actual Satan. He'll be the first to tell you there must be an issue or topic pertaining to his own life for him to be able to write music about it. Unless it pertains to a certain aspect of his life, he's not going to be sufficiently motivated to put in the necessary time into writing, building, and polishing it. The amount of time, effort, and creativity it takes to write music is so demanding in the first place that you need real life touchstones to fuel and motivate you in order to power through it. He has to feel something within him that stems from his private life first. Otherwise, nothing's going to happen. Writing ballads to the intellectual and conceptual figure of Satan just isn't a subject that does it for him.

Ghost isn't really a satanic, demonic, or anti-Christ band. Tobias created it to focus on the darker aspects of humanity, but make it entertaining. Before I start the video, I've seen Ghost 2 times live and they are an incredible live band! The show they put on is one of the best I've experienced! Im not a hardcore Ghost fan, but a friend of mine is and thats why I've seen them twice. Just to go out with a friend and drink beer and live a little!

Ghost as a band is heavy in their usage of lore for the back stories of their albums and their constant change of frontman characters...this song is based on the parties being thrown during the Black Plague, where people were dying at such a frequent pace that they would literally get together and throw crazy parties as if it's their last days on Earth (because it might be)...the story being told in the video is how the original Papa Emeritus came to be, and the woman he would later father a line of successors with (who would all later become frontmen for the band, as if it had been around for centuries and each generation would take up the mantle of Papa Emeritus similar to if the Pope were also part of a Royal Family and it was passed down)

You guys gotta check out one of the best new all-female bands PLUSH. Their album dropped last month and is being hailed as one of the best albums of the year. Their song Hate was on the charts for 17 weeks. This is the future of Rock and Roll. You need to be part of it!!

They’re cool, but a little too hard/heavy for me. Have you heard Thundermother? They’re a relatively new all-female rock ‘n’ roll band that’s more my speed. Their two most recent albums are the reason I consider them my favorite band of all time 🤘

The funniest part about that is, ghost is an open satanic band and a lot of symbolism related to the satanic bible. 😂 Not necessarily a bad thing, just... Funny to me

@@degeneratechris Ghost is extra fun because they’re both funny and fun to dance to, unlike black metal which you can’t dance to and can only laugh at a little bit.

Great reaction, guys! Please check out "No Place for Disgrace" by the band Flotsam and Jetsam! It's the title track from their 2nd album released in 1988, and it's about Japanese Samurai warriors. Jason Newsted formed this band before joining Metallica in 1986 after Cliff Burton (bassist) died in a bus accident. Flotsam and Jetsam are still going strong. They released their 14th album in June. Thanks!

They nailed the concept and deal of this band. What you see is dark and anti themes to have you expect heavy and doom like sounds but what you hear is catchy and pop-ish, so in your mind you don't wanna like it but your body does xD That's Ghost for ya.
